We have already covered the topic of Bloodlines, and more specifically historical Bloodlines, in a past Dev Diary, yet marrying into a famous family is not the only way to gain a Bloodline in Holy Fury.

There are quite a few custom Bloodlines that you can found with your own ruler by several different means. Some can be gained through special actions, such as by building a Legend as a Warrior Lodge Hero, others can be unlocked by performing impressive feats, such as being an extraordinarily dedicated Viking raider or restoring Israel.

Finally, if your ruler has very high Prestige (5000 points or higher) and is Duke-tier or above, you will have access to the new Forge Bloodline ambition.

By picking this ambition you will be provided with several paths to create your own custom Bloodline, tailoring it to whichever kind of ruler you wish to be remembered as.

Each path will lead you to unlock a different bloodline, each coming in different variants (for example pursuing the Murder path will lead you to gain one of four different Murder-related Bloodlines). Additionally, if you pursue more than a single path at the same time, you have a chance of unlocking a hybridized Bloodline, with its own unique perks.

And finally, if you take too long to complete any of the initial paths, having the ambition will trigger a special event chain that will allow you to invest resources and select from yet another pool of potential bloodlines, whose pick will be determined by the choices that you make during the event chain itself.

Some of these Bloodlines grant a static bonus, decreasing the chance of vassals joining factions against you, increasing your plot power, or unlocking special buildings for your realms, others grant more dynamic perks, such as special events to facilitate murder or decisions to meddle in your relatives’ private affairs.

This is it for now, though there's still going to be some news coming today. Do not forget to tune in for our very special stream at 17:00 CEST (https://www.twitch.tv/paradoxinteractive).

There is likely going to be an achievement which we must collect human genes from Iceland to China, make hybrids of dozens of bloodlines and finally forge the....Emperor of Mankind and some space marines

>Implying the god emperor and his space marines are not Prussian

I understand that bloodlines can only be forged once through this ambition per playthrough, but do bloodlines gained in decisions or other events count as forged ambitions too?
First: you can only forge a bloodline if you don't have a forged bloodline. So, theoretically, you could end up not being able to forge a bloodline at all (if you acquire someone else's forged bloodline early in your playthrough).

Second: I am fairly certain that only bloodlines created by completing the ambition count as "forged".

Both true. Also, if you end up playing a character who is of your dynasty but not an appropriate lineal descendant of the one who forged a bloodline, you can take the ambition again. People were suggesting deliberately playing with seniority or tanistry in order to take the ambition more frequently, which appears to be a valid strategy.

Probably. I just want to be sure.
If it is, then borrowing from Jewish traders would probably be better than national banks though.

I don't thing it means 'national bank'. It's BankS of Israel. So... it just means all banks which are in Israel.

Another great addition, though it does make me wonder...
Can we "forge" a bloodline through any special decisions?
e.g. Becoming Samrat Chakravartin, adopting Chinese Imperialism, founding the HRE, creating the Mongol Empire...
Personally I feel like Samrat Chakravartin would do well with a bloodline.

It says that in a matriliear marriage they inherit Patrilineal bloodlines from their mother and Matrilineal ones from their father. If both parents have Patrilineal bloodlines their children should only inherit their mother's. I hope that I'm wrong, but that's how me and some others understand this. It would be good if we could get some clarification form the Devs.
I understand it that the child will inherit patrilinear bloodlines from mother and matrilinear from father in addition to all the bloodlines it would normally inherit.

If you get patrilinear bloodlines from both parents in a matrilinear marriage, then matrilinear ones are extremely good and the player should try to get them whenever possible since it lets you collect tons of bloodlines.

That's if In addition means you also get the ones you would get in a regular marriage. It could be this way, but that's why I asked for clarification.

Yeah, you could collect all bloodlines if this is true. It looks too overpowered.

The quote from that dev diary said that matrilinear marriage is required to merge bloodlines into direct line of descendents. If the heir does not inherit both bloodlines, it will not merge into direct line, as the bloodlines would again separate after that heir death. Like personal union with two different succesion types. But, the exception will be that you can't keep both enatic and agnatic bloodlines forever.

I understand that in matri marriage boy heir will inherit all the bloodlines from their parents, but will pass only agnatic bloodlines to his sons. His sister will pass enatic bloodlines to her daughters.

So, if you want to min-max and keep all the bloodlines, you will have to have a large family and keep matri-marrying relatives :)

Yeah, I know, but still it looks too easy to do, you could collect all bloodlines that way with no problem.
But creating a bloodline takes time and if you are only talking about inheriting all existing ones (you can merge one ~every 16 years unless you have tons of horny progeny of both sexes and have diplo range off)

Or just play as zoroastrians or any number of divine marriage pagans should also do the trick. Just merge carefully to keep inbreeding in check.

Just realized that I'm going to have to convert people for their bloodlines instead of purging their dynasty. Damn paradox trying to cut down on my dynastic purges.

I predict at most one month before someone manages to have a character with all historical bloodlines in the game.
2 weekdays after release? I would have expected it to take at least over the weekend...
