So!

Holy Fury is out with all of it’s glory this week!

I just want to say from all of the team that we have been super excited about this release for weeks now and to see the experiences from everyone playing it so far has been so much fun. We’re happy that everyone is enjoying our updates and the things we’ve been tinkering on for the last year.

This week we’ve kept ourselves busy with trying to listen in and gather the things you’re talking about. We’ve noticed a couple of issues that we’re addressing in an upcoming patch, and we are continuing to work on small improvements to make sure the game is in an even better state before going on our winter vacation.

We’re looking forward to hear about your adventures in Holy Fury this weekend! :)

Cheers,

Divine

good job guys and girls
Thanks, on behalf of the team, all praise is greatly appreciated. :)

Good afternoon,is this possible to clarify if Holy Fury is the last DLC or not?According to this 2 years old DD:
https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/crusader-kings-2-dd-14-the-road-ahead.957206/
It normally will be but it doesn't really clear what is the currently official Paradox stance about this.
Thanks.
We can't comment on that right now. Currently we're focusing on fixing up the issues we discover with the 3.0 patch.

Really love the new warrior lodges. The African masks look really awesome.
I agree! The masks really make that area have a cool and living story-setting for the warrior lodge.

I have a few hours playing as Byzantium. I think the death rate of rulers in battle needs to be tweaked a little, but it is pretty fun amassing personal combat skill by slaughtering hapless enemies. Also, the new imperial succession is bonkers (in a good way). I think I have gone through 5 or 6 emperors, and none of the transitions have been father-to-son. I think I had a brother inheritance, but mostly it has been to nephews or cousins.

Oh, and the wife of my first Emperor finally died like 30 years after her already ancient husband (who contracted small pox and decided to keep leading from the front).
That's a good story. :) Thanks for sharing!
The Imperial Elective system is something I look forward to play more with myself. It creates a new and interesting power dynamic inside the realm.

As of now im on a modding adventure and have some question regarding one graphical future added in HF/3.0 - freckles. How to mod them to work with other portraits?
It is already technically possible to breed freckles into other cultures with HF if one of the baby's parents or grandparents has one of the freckle traits, the cultural triggers only apply when telling the game when to spawn freckles from people that do not have them at all in their ancestry. The event handling inheritance is HFP.30030.

- but where to find those cultural triggers? I modded celts to use english portraits and now here are no freckled celts in the game... Before that alot of celts were sporting some heavy freckled faces. Also patch note stated that saxons and uyghurs along with norse and celts are freckled cultures, yet i havent seen freckled saxons and uyghurs in the game...
The event checks graphical_culture, not culture, (norsegfx, saxongfx, celticgfx and cumangfx; all in the event I already mentioned), if you change the gfx used by those cultures, they will no longer spawn people with freckles.

Can crusade target weights be adjusted based on counties under infidel control?

Playing in the Alexiad start, a crusade keeps targeting Thrace despite 3 counties being under Rûm control, and the rest is Byzantine
That does sound a bit counter-intuitive. Currently there's not much in the way that restricts that from happening but we might get the time to look at improvements.

You would like to look into the portrait layering system. I'm not the best person to ask about that but I do know that there's a bunch of knowledgeable people who mods that on a regular basis over at the user mod forums. :)

My only regret from this patch is that game does not support set_investiture effect like it does for virtually any other religion property that was added in 3.0.
Intriguing it's one of the really specific Catholic features that are interesting in it's implementation. If there are a bunch of plans to utilize this in multiple mods it might be an idea for an improvement.

Dear Devs,
Please clarify - same CoA for Empire of Russia and Kievan Rus, Empire of Touran and Transoxiana is a plan or a bug?
I can't speak for the exact reason but my guess is that they do share a bunch of the symbolism and iirc it's not until around the 1490's that Muscowy adopted the double headed eagle and became dominant in the Russian sphere. It's probably more likely that the Kiev principality is going to form the Empire from the 1066 starting position. It could be a good idea to have some alternate set_coa effects if another principality ends up forming it though.

I bet it feels good to see it out after at least one year of work on it. Good job PDX.
It does indeed, thanks for the kind words!

By the way - When ? + Does this (winter vacation) apply to all of you, including the teams of EU-IV, Stellaris etc. pp ?
It varies for the employees here. There's probably always someone at the office at all times but most of the people on the game teams will be away during week 52 and a bunch of people will extend that for week 1 as well.

I'm really enjoying the update. I have 1 minor (?) request regarding bloodlines. Would it be possible to add a filter on person search or just an icon if the person has a bloodline? It would help a lot when inviting courtiers, finding spouses or just checking out bloodlines that formed or went extinct. Or would that require a major change? Thanks
Interesting quality of life idea! Currently you would have to go the round about way to find the living members of a bloodine and actively try to figure out if they're a promising eligible bachelor. A character finder filter will definitely improve this.

Firstly, thank you for the love you've poured into this DLC. It is such a meaningful addition and has added so much more depth to the game in absolute brilliant ways.

I do feel a sense of finality with this DLC. Ending off with a big bang. I would love more DLC like this to come in the future, especially after this one. However it does make sense to me if you'd want to end on a high note. Either way, I support it.
Thanks for all the love you're giving back to us. :)

Holy Fury has been one of the best CK2 Expansions as of now. However, I'm having some trouble with performance in version 3.0. Are some optimizations planned for a later patch?
It's something we're always looking to improve when we have the time for it and some leeway until the next release. All performance improvements at this stage is bound to cause some form of unintended behavior in the total opposite side of the game where you never imagined anything to be affected. Sorry to head that your running into performance issues. Our tests after the currently implemented optimizations showed that it would end up running at the same speed as the 2.8.x versions if not ever so slightly faster. Your mileage might vary though.

I did spot a peculiar bug that haunted a few player's save game where a nomadic title created 700 copies of itself. This will cause big performance issues when it happens in those particular games and I do hope that we can find and fix that issue before the next patch.

Sounds historical to me.
*Mongols intensifies*

Great expansion, but it has a few bugs like a black coat of arms for dynasty & holdings.
We heard about this bug on release day. A funny thing where the game is trying to randomly generate a coat of arms with all of the different emblems. However it assumed that everyone had the PDXCon2018 dlc and if it then didn't find those textures it corrupted the whole COA. We didn't realize why this happened until it went from a rare occurrence in our tests and became a thing most people encountered due to most of our test accounts automatically having the PDXCon2018 dlc. It's fixed for the patch though. :)

Thank you for such a wonderful dlc and patch.
Is there a vague estimate as to when we can expect a patch or are you still gathering info?
Thanks :)
We're still gathering info and we expect to get more reports in during this weekend when we'll get a lot more played hours in from everyone. I can't really say much more until we can commit to a date.

At the time of the formation of Russian statehood, the coat of arms changed to a two-headed eagle. Russian Empire can not wear the coat of arms of Rurikovich!
But if the Rurikovich are in the best position to create the Empire early? :)
But maybe the best solution in the end will be to create multiple COAs for the different scenarios.

It's a really great DLC, thanks so much. I agree with a few others here on with the battle death frequency, I went through 3 Romuva High Chiefs but the forth landed a genius who's created a glorious state and slaughtered all who opposed him. Once you break through the ceiling you end up stomping people in combat most of the time. The realm instability I would have experienced by losing three rulers in rapid succession was offset by Eldership rules so that's good but may make AI pagan realms a little too stable.

Since this may be the last big DLC I'd really urge you guys to add a bit more flavor through updates to all the previous DLCs

Enjoy my money! You earned it!
It's really fun to see so many people enjoying a Romuvan playtrough. An area which previously didn't see too much action before!

Is there any on_action events to get bloodlines?

Currently an event spawned character won't get bloodlines correctly. For example, when a character with a lot of bloodlines becomes the Chinese Emperor (by a successful invasion), his daughter spawned by "Request Imperial Marriage" won't get her father's bloodlines.
That's an interesting issue. Sounds like we might need an effect you can fire manually to update your bloodline inheritances after you've properly set the father and mother for a character. Ideally most of the cases would be solved already upon the creation of the character though to make sure that we don't need to do too much manual repeats everywhere.

Could you add polyandry in future versions? Some modders will want it.

Currently "Enatic Clans" and "Polygamy" are mutually incompatible.
There has been some code issues with the current implementation of marriages which have prevented us from doing this. It will require some time to make this happen and fix all of the fallout bugs that it will cause - we had some interesting bugs when we opened up concubines for both male and female characters. It's in the back of heads but not super prioritized right now.

I mean that they completely same. Even CoA of Byzantium and Thrace is little bit different.
In case of russia and transoxiana is a bug?
Although not ideal, it's not a bug as far as I know. I don't know if that was one of the features where we run out of time or if it's just an oversight.

And current CoA is not Rurikovich CoA - it is personal symbol of Vladimir the Great
Oh, interesting! I didn't know that the symbol originated from him. As you might tell I wasn't the developer did the specific Russian research and update even though I find these things fascinating.

I cannot speak for Russia, as I did not work on that one, but Transoxiana/Turan is an oversight from my side. I'll see if I have time to make a unique CoA for one of them.
