Is the chance of getting an exile in a nation influenced by the ideology of it Since I believe that for example a facist Germany would not take an Ethopian exile government but a democratic one would.
It is partly influenced by relation, which in turn is influenced by ideology. So yes.
Germany is included as it was of the few countries that actually supported Ethiopia. (Mainly to spite the Italians who were opposed to them doing something with Austria, but still).

I'm confused about what happens to you when you capitulate to Italy, how can you go into exile and keep playing? Right now when a country capitulates it goes into exile only when it's in a faction and at war, so how can Ethiopia do so when it's not in any? Wouldn't you just get a game over and get fully annexed by Italy? Will Italy be in perpetual war so you never get annexed? I might be asking very stupid questions but I genuinely don't understand how mechanics wise you can go into exile while having being annexed, at peace, without being in a faction, and still be in the game playing it. Did I sincerely misunderstand this completely or am I just stupid?
Nah, I don't think you are stupid, as I wasn't very clear :)

It will be a special case, that applies if you have taken the Boarding the train focus (in time), allowing you to go into exile. Italy will be at war with Ethiopia but can try to increase their control to a level where they can take over ownership of states. When Ethiopia no longer owns any state, they lose the game. (But hopefully from your point of view, you have convinced your host to join your struggle before that happens)

oh and also, Italy can still send volunteers to Spain if they are _only_ at war with an exiled country.

Can we get some context on what the Sultanate of Aussa is and what happens to them in certain cases, such as an Italian or Ethiopian Victory in the war?
Maybe...

Ok then:
It was an independent (or semi-independent) country in 36. Historically the Italians force accessed in, then moved in to occupy it in April, and formally annexed it in 37.

I debated long and hard with myself whether to include it or not as it played such little part in the war - but it was there and it was interacted with - but in the end I decided to go for historical accuracy.

Italy gets an event chain where they can basically take over the country, and Ethiopia has a few focuses they can use after the war to unite all the Afar lands under their rule.

That's basically it, I guess

Thank you, I really enjoyed your dev dairy and I can't wait to play!

How does the Ethiopian AI handle this new focus tree and mechanics, and do they still capitulate around March or April? Will we see AI Ethiopia kicking Italy out of Africa? (And if they do will AI Italy be forced to go alt-history, like if we turn historical settings off?)
If you are on Historical, they ai will most likely lose to Italy. If you are not on Historical, who knows what it will come up with :)

Is there a way to work with Italy in the alt history focusses, like palying as their east africa puppet?
Also will there be an option for the historical path to join WW2 if they survive be it on the german or allied side? (I didnt really get that feeling from any of the shown foci))
You'll have to live in uncertainty with regards to you first question I am afraid. At least for a few more weeks....

Second question:
Yes you can do the historical option of together with the British retaking your country - and more. (or other variants if you go down other paths.)

How hard is it to actually defeat Italy? This definitely has to be doable, but it should still be a challenge.
with current balance, hardish. Harder than German civil war, a bit harder than a bad Carlist opening.

Maybe around the same difficulty as going against Turkey as Greece without help and without exploits. Maybe a little bit harder, not sure

Everything becomes doable with practice. Internally we can win pretty consistently now

Is that.... a new state in Sudan? Because, it would mean that Etiopia has expansions paths to take it. Or maybe, something for the Egipt (unlikely tho).
