Do you keep all tributaries the last Emperor had? And how do you reform out of it? And how does that Catholic event works with the Mandate, would a Catholic Ming lose the Mandate?

Tributaries will only transfer if the target nation is annexed. A sufficiently weakened nation however, will find their Tributaries no longer seeking their protection.

The Catholic event still exists, and it is possible to switch and maintain the Celestial Throne

What happens if current Emperor would be wholly destroyed with non-claiming-mandate cb (let's say by european conquest)?

I like this question a lot, because it gives me an excuse to post this (ignore the placeholder event image).

@DDRJake :

Does something special happen when you pass all reforms?

this mechanics are nice btw

The Celestial Reforms themselves are standalone, there is no unite the HRE style Finale

Do meritocracy bring passive bonuses, like Legitimacy, Republican Tradition, etc.

Nice catch, Meritocracy affects spy detection chance and advisor cost, from -50% detection and +25% cost at 0 Meritocracy, to +50% detection and -25% cost at 100 Meritocracy.

Also is the old autonomy floor still present for Celestial Empire goverment form?

The 50% Autonomy floor from Celestial Empire Government (Which is adopted by whoever is the Emperor of China) Is Dead. No more Autonomy just because you're China.

As an Asian player of EU4, I absolutely love this new mechanic, however, I'd also love to see Asia get more love.

...

Thank you to the development team, you guys are doing a wonderful job, and I love the direction you are taking the game. Everything above is just a suggestion of what you could do, thank you for making EU4 the enjoyable experience it is so far.

cheers for the post. I would invite you To formulate improvements for ideas and whatever else in South East Asia in thread in the Suggestions forum. Feel free to tag me with @DDRJake If you make such a post. We love well informed and thought out improvement suggestions.

@DDRJake How will the current factions in Ming (Temple, Eunuchs, Bureaucrats) play into these new mechanics?

By default, the Ming Factions are in game
If you own the upcoming DLC, you get the Empire of China mechanics replacing them.

So now instead of china exploding, somebody will have to conquer it? I don't believe anyone is powerful enough in asia to do that.. I think manchu's need to get buffed (lucky nation, etc.) and have more incentive to attack ming.

The Eastern hordes now have their own cool mechanic to put to use if they wish to bring down the Celestial Empire.

@DDRJake How will the current factions in Ming (Temple, Eunuchs, Bureaucrats) play into these new mechanics?

As @DDRJake said you'll get those without the DLC still. We did however take the opportunity to touch them up a bit. :)
No more temples seeking to kill Buddhists for instance...

Also why would Ryukyu eliminate the Empire of China? Isn't Ryukyu eligible to be Emperor themselves ("every Pagan or Eastern country").

You can claim the Emperorship for yourself in a war using the Take Mandate Casus Belli. If you just want to break things, you can annex without it and destroy the system, much like how Christians can become Emperor or disband the HRE.

So how exactly does the Take Mandate CB work? You just win one war and then you're the emperor? Is taking the mandate an actual war goal? If so, how much does it cost?

Claiming the Mandate for yourself costs 50% Warscore and is a new peace treaty available with the CB.

@DDRJake
Manchu is a horde. Does Horde Unity change to meritocracy as legitimacy? And what about republics?

Claiming the Mandate will change government type to Celestial Empire

And if ex-horde lose throne? Will it become horde or something else? Feudal Monarchy for example.

Failing to defend your position on the Celestial Throne will boot your nation back down to a Despotism. the accompanying Loss of Mandate modifier lasts 10 years.

Jake, this isn't really related to China, but do you guys look at the suggestions page? Cause it often seems like you don't.

I read it every day and I know Jake does it often too. :) It moves very quickly though so often replies can fall off the first page within a day or so.
We also use the "vote helpful" function to show the OP that we've read his/her suggestions.

Would you guys make it so the Celestial Empire gives you guaranteed heirs, just like the Ottoman Sultanate? The emperors had loads of concubines and their dynasty was never in any danger of extinction, so it makes sense. It also prevents the weirdness of seeing the Ashikaga inheriting the Great Ming (yes, I've seen this happen before).

Celestial governments get maintain dynasty too now but they don't get the Ottoman system of heirs as those events are built very specifically around the Ottoman harem politics :)

Will there be new Asia-related achievements? Would be interesting to see what you can come up with ^^

Chris and I spoiled a few achievements on stream today. Rest assured that there will be more coming, with plenty East-focused

Silly question, can I be the emperor of both HRE and China at the same time?

It's not impossible.

So all pagan religions huh? As in Fetishists and the converted CK2 ones? Nice goal for megacampaingers.

If Fetishists can crush their way into China then absolutely. The main intention for allowing Pagans is for unreformed Hordes and Ryukyu to have a shot at it.

On the topic of Japan, if the nation is united is it possible for the Yamato to become the ruling dynasty (Meiji reformation style or maybe something of the sort)? Because it'd be really cool for the Japanese Emperor to become the Emperor of China as well, particularly if it's as the oldest dynasty in history (Yamato). @DDRJake

It is well within the realm of possibility for Japan to trade their Shogun position for the Celestial Throne.

Jake, this isn't really related to China, but do you guys look at the suggestions page? Cause it often seems like you don't.

I read it every day. It also gets a -huge- number of threads, so forgive me if it seems like we don't.

Just a few questions about the mechanic:

1) Is the Emperorship of China restricted to an Asian capital?

2) What happens if the emperor falls out of eligibility for the mandate CB (by converting religion, for example)

@DDRJake @trin_trangula

1. No, however lack of presence in China proper can lead to a Mandate-consuming disaster.

2. They will remain the existing Emperor. Only annexation or having the position taken from you will boot you off your throne.

Thinking about it, isn't it kind of weird that there is no mechanism by which an internal revolt can result in a change in Mandate-holder? It's what caused the Mongol Yuan dynasty to collapse, and the Qing dynasty faced revolts for the restoration of the MIng, so there ought to be some mechanism by which it can happen. Maybe a connection with the White Lotus Society?

This is why you get events when your mandate is low or dropping ;)

Also I hope if we own cossacks the unique events from China's unique factions still happen. No need to throw away good flavor text.

We have gone through all the old Chinese faction events, updating their effect so that they have meaning both with and without the dlc, making sure the effects are actually meaningful and that the triggers are possible (turns out a fair number of them could never trigger before) and, perhaps most important of all we've rewritten a large number of them from scratch as they made no sense, had too flimsy connection to history or was just not fitting :)
This should hopefully improve the experience both for those playing with the factions and those playing with the dlc.
