EU4 - Development Diary - 2nd of October 2018

Good day all and welcome to today's Dev Diary for EU4. Yesterday we released the free 1.27 Poland Update, packed with free content, map changes, bugfixes and such. Today we're going to be talking about the release as well as our plans going forward.

Firstly, with the Poland Update, we have updated EU4 to be GDPR compatible. You may have noticed a Privacy Policy when you tried to launch the game for the first time after the update. As part of this, we also had to remove the old versions from Steam due to them not being GDPR compliant but fret not if you want to keep enjoying the golden oldies. This link contains everything you need to know to get your old version back.

Now the Poland Update has our players making wealth common and impaling left & right. We'll be keeping our eyes on any issues that are coming in from players. We already have a plan to release a prompt fix for any serious issued popping up including but not limited to:

  • Centenarian Venetian Doges.
  • Lithuanian infeasibility in forming PLC
  • Some users not being able to start the game due to missing dependencies
As well as any other serious issues which we see occurring for users in 1.27 Poland

But beyond Poland, what lies in store for EU4? Well, as I mentioned just after Dharma, we're now looking to put the Europa back into Europa Universalis. With extensive love poured into India, The Far East and the Near East, it's high time we brought some attention back to Mother Europe. Poland was a good start, but we'll be rolling up our sleeves and getting to work on an Immersion Pack for our next release. Where will we be focusing? Well, the Pet Shop Boys would be pleased, because we're going to Go West!

What sort of loopyland have I entered hellinism playable in ck2 Spain getting reworked in eu4 the next thing you know Victoria 3 will be announced also can someone slap me I don’t trust myself not to be dreaming

I've looked at that part of the map far too often to not be able to instantly recognize Sevilla and Algarve when I see it. I think I might actually have a problem. My name is Yammka and I'm addicted to playing as Castile.

Some humble petitions:

- Spanish universal monarchy as a special form of government, maybe triggered by personal union with Netherlands, HRE and having a certain number of colonial regions;

- Revamped Crown of Aragon, with special attention to Catalonia. Addition of Catalan mission tree.

- Navarran mission tree as a way to to create an Euskaldun kingdom encompassing the Basque provinces in Castille and France.

- Flavour events representing the tensions between the different territories in Iberia, Europe and America during the XVI, XVII and XVIII centuries: personal union with Portugal; Dutch, Aragonese, Portuguese and Catalan revolts; chance of War of the Spanish Succession.

Hope the Iberia immersion pack adds things that benefit all colonizers or religious countries like the British immersion pack added stuff for sea faring and coal-owning nations :)

Oh can we get some Burgundy love with this one?
And some low-country love?
and some Nevereverlands love? (since it never-ever forms)

Especially so since Spain had such a big influence in Burgundy and the low countries.
And a less gamey inheritance event!

That'll make me happy

Oh yes, please make colonization fun. Right now the only fun way to do it is to let the AI do it and then run over them because taking Exploration+Expansion with the minimal bonuses a CN gives you is way too easy.

Something about the Spanish Low Countries (in terms of inheritance-mechanics or events/missions) would be appreciated, too.

I fear an overpowered Spain/Portugal, already boosted by changes to the trading/colonial game.
Look what Rule Britannia did to Britain.

I'll be glad for the free update (map etc.) but I'm not looking forward to the mechanics.

The history of Spain is so rich and interessant the immersion pack imust be immersive!.
Isabel was alive in 1444. So was Alfonso, his brother. The nobles were powerful but ar the same time extremely brilliant and intelligent. The parliament until the Comuneros revolt was very rich and powerful: kings sought it for money...
Do not make it all random.
Spain was very innovative milatary wise until 1640: Tercios, fire by rows, marine infantry, mortars, mine warfare development, were, among others, spanish contributions.
I highly reccommend the developers to watch the Isabel TV series. Not only entertaining, but also extremely faithful to history.

Please fix the regnal names of Poland, and England if you have a chance too, please. I'll buy the next immersion pack if you do.
