Warmest greetings from Minamar Specialized Industries!

We delight in meeting new peoples and welcoming them into the greater galactic community. With over 143 successful uplifts to date, we’re the acknowledged leaders in the field of social and technological ascendancy. We’re thrilled to finally make your acquaintance, and hope to add your world to our success story.

We understand that this is all very sudden. Receiving a transmission ‘from the stars’ has likely come as a surprise to you, but we’ve been watching your world for some time and your civilization scores very highly on several relevant metrics. With an evaluation score of ?ERROR_UNDEFINED, the people of ?ERROR_HOMEWORLDNAMENOTFOUND have been flagged as particularly worthy of cooperative enlightenment. Congratulations!

We have assigned some of our best specialists to your case, and our representatives will be arriving on world shortly. We can’t wait to meet in person to discuss the benefits of ascendency as well as the terms of this beautiful arrangement.

Enlightenment may not be free. But at MSI, it’s always worth the cost.

Your friends at Minamar Specialized Industries

Seems more like a mid game crisis to me. I could see a struggling empire making a deal with the devil to get ahead. Or an empire that's already ahead making a deal to get further ahead. By end game that struggling empire is already going to get swallowed up.
By end game fallen empires a speed bump as well.

Playing as a primitive could be interesting, but it wouldn't want to last much longer than 5 years before some kind of event to propel us into the stars fired.

A primitive re-work? Not sure what to think about that. I mean I like to enlighten them and add them to my empire, but not sure what could be expanded/changed about that.

I'm beginning to feel like (possibly 'fear') the many calls for an internal politics and/or factions rework are being deliberately ignored, but Paradox is keeping this quiet for reasons it has not (and maybe will not?) disclose. I'm baffled as to why.

Has anyone else asked for a Primatives rework? Genuine question, because I haven't seen it. Internal politics, factions, religion and hive minds - I've seen many requests for those for quite some time.

People have been asking for expanded primitives mechanics and interactions (and to play as them) for literally years.

And no, Paradox is not deliberately ignoring a popular request for mysterious shadowy reasons. They are in fact usually pretty good about saying when they will not do things due to it requiring rework of too many systems, a new engine, or whatever.

Yeah. Arguably, people have been asking for a primitive rework as long as any other feature. There are memes and comics on this - especially on how oblivious primitives can be (comics by VapourOne).

There's also the Stellaris Invicta series Season One, which deals with a primitive Earth repelling an alien invasion and the aftermath. I recall in a Q&A that Paradox hinted that they might attach events to the Stellar Shock modifier.
Question by AiLystAP:
Any plans to add events to the Stellar Shock modifier? At the moment, it seems like the primitives just roll over once you conquer them? Where's the plucky resistance fighters? Our non-violent resisters? The whole implications of absorbing a primitive civilization into a interstellar one? The possible Greater Xeno Unions to oppose us?
Answer
A very good idea, if we ever make a concerted effort to look at primitives this should definitely be something we add alongside with it.

When you start building a Dyson Sphere, there is an event where another empire shows concerns (when you start the project) about that specific star disappearing from their sky, as that star is part of their culture and future generations won't see it.
Primitives could also notice that, depending on their advancements in astronomy. I wonder if this could be translated into a mini event of mass panic in a nearby early space/atomic planet, just like we humans almost had with the Tabby star megastructure speculations.

That small example is more about the stories being told than +% monthly Alloys, but no less important to the Stellaris experience (even more in a Story Pack).

The other empire doesn't really "notice" it, per se, they just learn about your construction project.

It will take hundreds of years before their view of the star is affected, they're just somewhat distressed by the prospect that the future generations will not get to see it.

Is this a code of some kind? I thought it was for decoration, but the fact that it's not matching or mirrored is suspicious.

Okay, hear me out on this: what if we made the sphere glow? A simulation of sunlight at the cost of some energy credits, but still making a large profit.

Feels a bit too small for a DLC. Maybe a free update? Or something to the size/scope of a species DLC, price tag included?
Hmm have to disagree here. A primitive rework is a bigger one. It just might not be enough to create a big DLC for it but more like a story pack species DLC like they did for lithoids and Aquatics.

More storylines, options to form their scoiety.
What I would love to get in this as well is the option to deal with the pre sapients indirectly.
Never understood why I had to establish a colony in order to modify the species.
Why not establish an obersvation outpost around Pre sapient earth and uplift them from afar. Observe them, guide them.
Have a scientiest use a hologram of a burning bush and drop some stone tablets with basic rules for those primitves... :)

I might be wrong but it could be that they have either troubles code wise to implement proper internal politics. Something every PDX game is lacking up to a degree .which brings me to the second aspect, maybe they have no clue of how to do an internal politics mechanic that is fun as well as giving some real perks and challenges.

At this point I can't see how the internal politcs mechanic of either HoI IV (America or Italy) or V3 would work in Stellaris.

I mean, just basically do this...

That is what I saying. Normally there is this alternation between dlc, free updates ans species packs. Correct me if I'm wrong but the next thing in line would be DLC by now, right? If so, if I am to pay dlc-grade money to uplift dogs, I mean, those better be some freaggin' smart saint-bernards.

Or..... the uplift work is just part of a larger bundle of features.

I'm not sure tbh if they are strictly alternating or if they don't
You are right of course that just uplifting expansion wouldn't warrant a full priced DLC. So this is either a teaser where Uplifting is part of it or they are not alternating.

I think it is easier said than done when it comes to make such things proper.
All those mods as great as they are, are using existing mechanics in crude way to achieve their goal.
The devs probably don't want to use too much quick and dirty solutions so if they would implement something like that they would do it with a proper core mechanic which is a different thing.

I managed to crack it; they didn't invest much into Codebreaking.
want to give any hints? It doesn't seem to be Morse or I am to stupid to decypher it.

I love the idea of primitives becoming more important in the game. Intrigued by the trap warning...

On the subject of first contact: I really hope the Devs can tweak the AI logic when it comes to rivalry. It seems like the first AI empire you meet always rivals you, presumably for the extra influence. But often it doesn't make any sense. I've played democratic fan. egalitarian, materialist empires meeting a democratic fan. materialist, egalitarian empire and they still rival me. It should be a joyous occasion to meet aliens for the first time and realise you have so much in common!
