TURN 7 UPDATE #5: WAR! (I)
MOJAVE THEATRE
After the courageous attack made by Reilly and her men, the war in the Mojave seems to be turning its tide, specially in the moment when the NCR seemed close to collapse. In a few months, the Republic has passed to fighting a two front war against three different alliances to a state where Caesar is starting to lose ground and risks being totally encircled both by the Khans and the Californians.
However, it seems as the Khans have not yet recovered by the impressive defence of Aurelius of Phoenix, who arrived to the field of battle just at the moment where his troops were most needed. Trying to benefit of the chaos produced by such a courageous defence, Aurelius sets up a series of fortifications all along the northern frontline, and carefully tries to fool the remaining motorized division into a minefield set up for this plan.
The Khans 1
st Motorized, angered by their recent defeat, try to pursue the withdrawing Legions, and only in the last moment they realize that they are about to cross through a plain full of spiketraps and mines. Although they manage to avoid entering the minefield and getting utterly destroyed, the retreat is confusing and without any order, and Papa Khan decides to pull back in order to reorganize the unit
(1st Motorized unavaliable next turn).
Once again, Aurelius has acted like a true son of Caesar
The second phase of Aurelius plan was to head to the unclaimed land of what once was known as Utah and start a series of surprise attacks against both the Raiders and the NCR, but the commander considers that now that the Motorized are withdrawing it would be too risky and cancels the action. However, they are able to take some Khan prisoners, who are mercilessly crucified all along the border as a warning sign for Caesar´s enemies.
A classic stamp of any Caesar´s campaing
The best news for Caesar come from his allies; some hours after this events, he receives a message from Head Father Dane, informing him that “the Khans have been crushed by the mighty power of the Atom”. Hours later, scouts confirm that Texan troops have appeared in the Khans rear lines and are now menacing the core of the Great Khans army, even being able to destroy one of their Regular Divisions
(4 Texan Divisions in the north of Utah, Khans lose 1 regular).
The first military action by the Atom´s Followers turned out quite a success
However, things are not going so well for Caesar in the Mojave itself, at least from a general point of view. In spite that Lee tried to reinforce his position around Hoover Dam and are finally surprised by a night attack carried out by Caesar´s northern armies using hit and run tactics and the Republicans are almost engulfed by the present Legions, Lee finally manages to withdraw from battle and backs down a few miles. Caesar´s troops now have surrounded the Hoover Dam and the Rangers Division garrisoned there, but it is still unknown if lee will be able to break the encirclement and save the Dam
(Lee retreats concedes some space, 1 rangers divisions encircled in the Hoover Dam).
All in all, such an action may have proven fatal for the Legions, as too many troops have been focused in the northern Mojave and not to help the surrounded forces in the southernmost war theatre. NCR intelligence services give word of such actions happening in the North, and once again Reilly is ready to deploy her forces and strike through Caesar´s lines.
With some logistical support from the pinned Division commanded by Dathri, Reilly uses all available forces to encircle once again the Legions, and although the Praetorians show great heroism and manage to survive the attack, the remaining Legion is unable to repel the constant rifle firing and finally surrenders to Reilly and her forces. Quickly, the Californian hero redeploys her troops in order to create a new and stable line, keeping the Praetorians under a huge pocket of Californian soldiers
(1 Legion destroyed).
Reilly´s prestige is quickly increasing through the Wastelands...
In New Vegas, House starts a fortification campaign helped by the tireless work of the Lobotomites, but nobody seems currently interested in invading The Strip and people return to the streets as if they were not currently involved in the Mojave War.
Current situation of the Mojave theatre
MEXICAN THEATRE
Following the success of the last month, Mexican troops set a new line of traps and establish defensive positions in order to fool the Raiders into attacking them. However, the bandits are not stupid, and feel that the Mexican are just repeating their recent strategy and do not approach the front lines. Instead, they start launching grenades and dynamite to the front of the Mexican lines, and explosions start to occur, creating a devastating and chaotic fog of war in the nearby plains.
Using such cover, they even manage to harass and destroy one of Bolivar´s Militia divisions, and keep penetrating and controlling more territory in the Mexican Wastelands. In only a few years, the Raiders have nearly destroyed half of the Mexican forces, and defeat seems unavoidable…
(Mexico loses 1 Militia).
But is it so? Flashing news start to circulate all along the lines: El Zorro has accepted a truce with Presidente Bolivar! Apparently, El Zorro has realized that the Raiders plan is not to free Mexico from oppression, but rather to keep it as a satellite faction, and starts to believe that perhaps it would be better to be controlled by Mexicans rather than by foreigners.
Delegates from both Mexican sides sit down in a bordering town and start discussing peace terms. For sure they will both be forced to do great concessions to the other, but they both send a message to the Raiders: “free Mexico of your troops in 72 hours or we will both consider you as our enemies” What will the Raiders do? The Mexican Army is about to be totally eliminated, but fighting against El Zorro and Bolívar in a land that no longer supports them may prove complicated…
Will the Raiders keep pushing further into Mexican territory?
