Given the imminent conclusion of this game, I strongly advise against discussing The Incident. Details about it may still influence johho's WW LXVI. Everything will be revealed after that game ends.

I concede. GG

Jonti, in my defense, I thought your performance on the outing was a ruse as a seer without a JL and a scanned wolf. I hope you don't go meta over a hunt. :p

GG, but I thought the village di well this game. I guess an inactive seer is sometimes a good thing, especially when they are stereotyped for it.

You sir, are an asshole. Depriving me a win to surrender just after update?

I'm not the one throwing a fit," and calling people names. I am not the asshole. :)

Wolves do not get scans, I do not know who is in a JL, nor who is the seer. I had Marty as the hunt target until you made a performance about not being in the JL. Had I known, I absolutely would not have hunted you. But I genuinely thought you were seer, especially after you dropped an f-bomb at chemist for saying we were hunting you.

Highly debatable

Really? In the 8 years I've been playing WW I never knew this.

Well brainbox, I made a performance about not being the JL because........... I wasn't the fucking JL
I'd have got some poor mook to out Monkey-boy not done it myself if I'd had any alternative.

Day 6

DH016024.jpg

It is the night between the 17th and the 18th of April 1864 and you are on guard in a trench between Redoubt I and Redoubt II as you see Jens Jensen (Xarkan wolf) who appears to be trying to flee the fortifications. You corner him and he admits to be a German named Detlev von Liliencron; you quickly put a bullet through his head.

Winners?

Nautilu (seer) as General Georg Daniel Gerlach
Gen. Skobelev as Niels Christian Larsen
Rovsea as Corporal Rasmus Schmidt Nellemann
aedan777 as Major Ernst Schau

The morning of the 18th or April 1864 arrives...

General Gerlach doesn't dare to go against the orders of the government and retreat; that pretty much equals suicide of the army and the Dybbøl Slaughter becomes a reality. Even though he just followed orders he is demoted at the end of the war; before the battle he was already broken by wanting to follow orders and knowing retreat was the only option. He dies a completely broken man on the 7th or March 1865.

Niels Christian Larsen fights in the beforementioned trench and falls on an unknown place in the fortification. Leaves wife, three year old son and an infant daughter.

Major Ernst Schau gets a leg amputated after the battle; when his wife comes to see him she meets a dead body. His brother also dies and his mother is left without living sons. He leaves wife and three small children.

Corporal Rasmus Schmidt Nellemann falls in Redoubt II. As a Prussian flag is planted at the top of the redoubt he jump up, grabs it, breaks it over his knee and throws it into the redoubt. Prussian soldiers plant a new flag and as Nellemann rips that flag from the ground he tumbles down dead---hit by several bullets of which one was to his head. He leaves wife and a two year old daughter.

You know, in those 8 years that you've been playing, you'd think you'd pick up the skills to lose with dignity. I do not deserve to be insulted by some whiney poor sport. Grab a tissue, dab your eyes, and grow the fuck up jonti.

Well thank God the Germans didn't get to parity with us. We'd have lost then, as opposed to our defeat here. This is much better.

Yeah, even when you win, you lose.

Hope people enjoyed the game and the story I had running through the updates; I think I managed to have it quite coherent even though I made it up as I went. Felt that the siege couldn't end different than in reality even with 4 ahistorical infiltrators which is why I wrote the 18th of April epiloge. The seer was a real general, but all wolf names (Detlev von Liliencron was a real person though) and all names for dead villagers I made up---they all are plausible names though.

The names of the surviving villagers all are names of actual soldiers who fell on th 18th of April or dies due to injuries obtained on that faithful day. The little descriptions of them the seer and the surviving villagers are also true. I only got the idea to grab my books on the war---and especially the book on that battle---today; do people think I should have used it all along find names instead of making them up?

I think you did a fine job wagon. Thanks for GMing. :)

Not sure if you are sarcastic, but in case you aren't.
On the 18th of April 1864 the Prussians stormed the fortifications with 40,000 men; there were 12,000 Danish defenders in the fortifications and 15,000 reinforcements on Als. It was a slaughter with whole Danish regiments wiped out---especially the regiments fighting in Redoubts I and II and the trenches between them were pretty much wiped out. During the battle the 8th Brigade heroically charged which let the remnants of the defenders escape to Als. As a fun fact the father of world known author Karen Blixen fought in the battle as part of the 8th Brigade---mentally he pretty much died that day. On the 18th of April the fortifications couldn't be compared to Sevastopol anymore either; the Prussian cannons had almost completely destroyed them at that time.

It was an unwinnable battle which from a military standpoint never should have been fought, but the government in Copenhagen had ordered the fortifications to be defended no matter the casualties. In the end Denmark would have been far better off if we had retreated and let the Germans storm empty fortifications.
It would therefore feel very strange to have Denmark win the battle just because 4 infiltrators were lynched. By the way the events I referenced, like the surveilance bridge between the two towers of Broager Church or the destruction of Dybbøl Mill, were real events.

If you don't think I know how to lose that's your prerogative.
If you want to insult me that is also your prerogative.
If you think your bad choice of hunt is great again your prerogative.
If you think that yelling at me will get me off my shit list then well, you'll learn.

Point is you had lost and chose the least likely seer, and killed me out of spite.

And hey, you are the loser. Again.
I "lost" in name only because you decided to kill me.
You lost because you were completely outplayed by everyone else.
Loser.
