Why so mad? It was to be expected given that roles went out when he was sleeping and deadline is in the early morning for Gorgan. Remember he lives in Australia.

I'm just injecting some humor into the situation.

Actually, you know what, I may have to sub out of this one. I didn't properly take into account just how busy I would be next week, and I don't want to bail out in the middle of a game. I wouldn't do this if I didn't know that there were willing subs waiting (al-Aziz and Gen. Skobelev, I'm looking at you). I don't plan to make a habit of this, but I honestly don't think I'll have any time to play werewolf in the next week.

Sub Out

And no, the Wildcard game, while technically the playoffs, is primarily in use because it is recognized that sometimes there are very good teams who, because of organizational reasons, may not make it into the playoffs, and so a one-game playoff is played between two of the best non-division leading teams in the league (there are two leagues, equal in size) to determine who goes on to play in a Playoff Division Series. It just so happens that having a wild card also guarantees that nobody gets a bye round in the playoffs, which is helpful.
But why is it the division winner who has to play the wild card thereby giving him a larger chance of getting knocked out? That would make it more advantageous to become second in the league to avoid the wildcard team.
Just like how in the WC or EC you sometimes want to become second in your group since you know that some monster like Spain or Germany got second in the group your group winner is facing.

Well I didn't get it. Also another time you might want to find such images on places like imgur or deviantart. And especially don't use wordpress. As you probably don't know wordpress is the subject of an unknown exploit (or at least were two weeks back) and in the middle of September 6000 new pages were infected each day by active malware. A number which had steeply risen quickly so it probably is higher yet now. And all javascript files are infected and redirects you to an attack site if you use an infected wordpress site.
So avoid wordpress both for your own safety and the safety of everybody else. (Don't think this infection can spread through pictures given how it is a javascript redirection, but I don't know. And infecting through pictures most certainly is possible and has happened before.)
Oh and use NoScript.

@Gen. Skobelev I'm giving you first dibs on this.

The division winner doesn't have to play the wild card game, they have to play the winner of the wild card game. As we've just discussed, the pitchers can't play consecutive games (without extenuating circumstances), and in a wild card game one wants their star pitcher playing, as it is a win or go home game. The Division leader almost always therefore has the advantage of the Wildcard team all other things being equal. I believe that the #1 cede in the playoffs plays the wild card, so it's not like a team from a poor division can really be horribly over-matched or anything. There's no real advantage to going for second in your group either, because you'll either end up playing in the wildcard game or simply not making the playoffs if you go for that.

Ah thought second got to playoffs too. Also why are wildcards paired with the number 1 seeding; that just seems ridiculous as you still are punished with an extra game by being the best.

I used wordpress? Sorry about that, I was on my phone and didn't realize the URL I copied.

Yep you used a link from wordpress. I take it from your response that you were aware of the bad situation of wordpress?

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is such an effective blend of high school drama and supernatural thriller. I can see why so many people like it. However, the real question is: is it superior to Firefly?

Well, #1 seed is the best, so...

Yeah so why should they be punished with an extra game? They did the best in the ordinary season so why do they get a bigger chance of being booted out?

I wasn't aware.

Well now you are. Though as mentioned I have it from a news article on a Danish computer science news site published on the 18th of September. But given how the rate of infections a day has just risen over the last several months and the exploit is unknown---or at least was back then---I doubt it is solved yet. So at least in my opinion it is better to avoid it. Also when having in mind all the many previous cases of wordpress getting infected---those times it was through wordpress plugins as far as I remember.
And as mentioned it injects the active malware into all javascript files on the infected wordpress sites meaning that if you run javascript on them you get redirected to an attack site---and unless you have something like NoScript running you will be running the javascript.

For future reference the GM is a Cubs fan and statements like these may make life hard for you :p
Doesn't make it any less true.

It is a horribly stupid system.

They don't. They do not play the Wildcard game, only the winner of it. THe two best teams in the league who did not win their divisions would play the wild card game, and the winner of that plays the #1 sed.

Interesting that this didn't generate an alert.

I had understood that. What I meant is that it is ridiculous that the number 1 seed has to play the winner of the wild card game since that means that they get a game more than the number 2 seed.

Once the winner of the wildcard game wins, the playoffs proceed as normal. It is as if they were the normal #4 seed who must play the #1 seed. Basically, the Wildcard game is to determine whether or not the team advances into the playoffs (though it is technically considered a 1 game playoff series).

Typical. GM PMs during the night and now he's asleep.
