Just noticed this while posting my previous bug.
It's in fact enough of a difference to cause my cpu fan to spin up to maximum speed while the game is minimized (something that never happens during normal play).
System specs:
Phenom 2 x6 1055T @ stock clocks
8GB RAM
Radeon HD 5870 1GB @ stock clocks (driver 16.2.1, which I'm fairly sure is most recent)
Game running off SSD
Desktop is 3x1920x1080, with the game running fullscreen on a single 1920x1080.
Win 7 x64.
- Game is paused in all cases
- When Stellaris is minimized it uses far MORE cpu time than when maximized.
- When maximized, Stellaris uses ~20% total load across all 6 cores, with the hardest run core maxing out at ~50%.
- When minimized, Stellaris uses ~40% total load across all 6 cores, with the hardest run core maxing out at almost 100% load.
