1.09 NA seems not to be working for me.

Downloaded and installed it then installed IGC 2.01.
Start program and see the new funky Safedisc logo...
then nothing.

Hmm.
Check task manager and nothing's happening.

Uninstall EU, then reinstall 1.07c.
This works fine.
Install 1.08 patch and try it.
This works.

Install 1.09 patch and try it.
See new funky Safedisk logo and...
you guessed it, nothing.

Install 1.08 patch. The games runs, but after selecting scenarios and hitting the "start game" buttom, it immediately locks up the machine.

Uninstall again making sure that everything is deleted from EU folder and that I'm only using official files. Game won't start. I think we got a bad patch and that it's probably related to that crappy copy protection Strategy First insists on putting in.

I'm using Win 2K and have tried the disk in both a DVD ROM and a CDR, both of which worked fine through 1.08 as well as a CD image using Daemon.

I think you've still got some issues to work out.
Until them it looks like I'm going back to 1.08.

I get the funky safedisk thing also, but get into the program. I'm still getting crashes to the desktop, although it seems to take a little longer than under 1.07 or 1.08. My computer has Windows Millenium. Is there a compatability problem between EU and Millenium? I'm starting to think so. I have had a few other problems with Millenium, but nothing comparable to the EU crashes.

I run SE. Never had a crash. Haven't tried 1.09 yet. Will have to wait till I get home.

P.S. Drake, good to see another Minnesotan. Hey if you got an opinion about the Twins and the stadium, I started a thread in the off topic forum.
P.S.S. Haven't had a problem with 1.09

I have exactly the same problem here. I get the SafeDisk logo and then the program exits. I can reinstall 1.08 and it works like a charm.

OS is Win XP Beta build 2469, though since Drake is seeing the same on W2K maybe this is an NT thing - more likely just crappy macrovision copy protection :-(

Anyway, looks like I'm going back to 1.08. Oh well.

FYI, we have only tested a couple of hours on XP so we can't guarantee anything there and I guess the same goes for SafeDisc... You should mail Strategy First about that one...

Works for me!

Well, I loaded 1.09 NA last night, & everything worked fine. I continued a 1.08 saved game as Venice & played for hours without a crash, which is unusual for me. I have a Dell Dimension 4100 Pentium III @ 1 GHz running Windows ME. I always figured that the ME was the root of my crash problems, & 1.09 seems to have cleared those up. I'm sorry that the rest of y'all are having problems, but I'm one happy camper. Thanks Patric! :)

I'm actually not too worried about the XP thing, I know that there are bound to be sime issues there, but since the patch doesn't appear to work on Drake's W2K either I expect that the problem is a bit wider.

Hey, at least 1.08 works :)

BTW what is the Strategy-First email address, I'll bug them and see if they have any suggestions.

I had continual problems playing 1.07 and 1.08. In fact 1.08 was so unplayable, I was manually saving during the half-year so that if it did crash during the yearly save, the game wouldn't be corrupted.

But I've played 1.09 from the beginning of the GC and only one noticeable crash!

Thank you Patric and the rest! Now if you could improve my game play so I don't get my a$$ kicked by the Spaniards!!

Glubber.

Just wanted to thank all the folks at Paradox. Although it was supposed to be fixed in 1.08, I was still getting the white square and having to wait five minutes to start the game. With 1.09 it starts up immediately. And no crashes to desktop in about 10 hours of play. I had kind of put the game on the shelf because I was tired of the crashes and of waiting for it to start, but now I'm back into it as if I bought it yesterday. :D

Thanks again, guys!

With both 1.07c and 1.09, the first time I launch the game after computer startup
it locks ups. Then I ctrl-alt-del to stop the program, and start again and it runs fine.
I do not recall having this problem with 1.08

Also, with 1.09, my save games are corrupted. When I try to load the autosave, I get
a corrupt file message while loading scenario. When I try to load a player save, I
completely lockup the computer and have to reboot.

I run a PII-350 with win98 and 128M.

Jhorl,

I am experiencing exactly the same thing. I don't use 1.09 but the 1.08 patch which works fine on my computer(well, it crashes every now and then but...). I hope that Paradox will have this problem solved in the comimg patch.
