I know this has been posted here already but I just want everybody to know how annoying the sound bug is. I have 1.09 NA version, and ever since i patched it the music ALWAYS turns on. Even if I turn it off in the OPTIONS, the next time I play the game the music STILL plays (even tho the music option is already set to OFF). Obviously the music setting isn't saved, even though it looks like it is!!!

And no, the /nomusic parameter does NOT work. It has no effect on whether music plays or not.

Just FYI, i've been playing EU since 1.07c, and music NEVER EVER played (which is what I want). The music appeared for the first time in 1.09, and now I can't get the game to remember I want it turned OFF!

Everything else is fine tho.

Sorry if I am stating the obvious but:-

In the program group left by the 1.09 update (start/programs/Paradox Entertainment/EU there should be an option to start by clicking on either "Europa Universalis" or "Europe Universalis (no music).

Maybe you have never started the program from there and havent noticed?.......

I use the No Music option and the game runs faster as the music files arent needed.

You can also do this:

If you turn "off" the music under options and then re-load a game or just re-load the next day, it still shows "off" under options but the music is playing.

If you then select music to "on" and confirm and then go back straght away and select "off" the music will turn off.

Using 1.09NA.

Cheers, Ice

i'm having the exact opposite problem, i want to hear the music. i tried going the start route, but that didn't work. i even deleted the "no music" shortcut through the start route still no luck. i have windows me and for some reason i haven't heard a lick of music since the first week i played the game. i can't play this type of game in silence or i'll get bored and increase the game speed to a level where i make too many mistakes. :(

stevenz - I have WinME also, and had the same problem at first (no music). I checked the sound settings from that little icon down in the taskbar at the bottom right of the screen, and noticed that my CD player volume was all the way down. I turn it up and the music has played fine ever since. This may not be your problem, but it can't hurt to check. Good luck.
