No. As you can see my title here is just Moderator, who are all volunteers. Paradox staff have far mightier titles.

Okay, based on what was said in the latest and last dev. diary, there is definitely a patch coming to coincide with the release of Old Gods, which apparently also introduces a hefty change to the tech system. So, perhaps that answers the question, and its only a few more days away...:)

Just noticed there was a new patch out for CK2 while watching a play through. After reading this I guess I will hold off on patching the game.

I think people are particularly passionate about this game so they are more worked up about its flaws or bugs than most other games. I've come to the conclusion that this game is so complicated that there are bound to be some bugs with every patch release. Its not that people don't deserve to have a working game when they paid for it or that the developers aren't doing the job or they aren't testing it enough. Its just the nature of the game doesn't seem to allow for a bug free game.

We aren't asking for a bug free game. We're asking that they deal with a persistent crash bug that's been in the game for almost 2 months by now. They've already fixed it, according to AndrewT, but we aren't getting it because of TOG has to arrive first. They should have dealt with this the moment they had a fix for the issue.

Come now, people can't wait four days?! even if they fixed it with a hotfix now, you would barely have time to play a full game before having the next patch mess up your savegame. I just turned off republics and Rome and am playing Muslim or other Christian rulers for now. Personally I don't see much difference, and I could care less about retinue. That's me , but I'm me.

The thing is that we were made to wait two months, not that we're now waiting another four days.
And this thread was started twelve days ago.

I believe you mean that you *couldn't* care less. Could care less is silly statement. See this for why.

On topic, I agree that 2 months is a long time for a fix, but I understand why it has been low priority. It is a DLC to the game, easy to disable and not essential to the gameplay experience. The issues are known and preventable/fixable by modders/players.
Not everyone buys DLC, or uses it in every game.

Every patch that comes out I see Paradox exporting more to defines, allowing the modding community to do more, and I think they are doing a great job with this title. Could they do more? Yes. Could every company do more? Yes.

When I think of the countless hours of entertainment I have derived from it I am willing to overlook quite a lot of issues.

Republics are ridiculously overpowered at the moment. Piza conquers most of Africa, Venice conquers Sicily and I've seen Piza win two crusades in a row for Egypt and Jerusalem!

I haven't played the game since 1.0.92, too, due to the crash reports. I hope there will be a fix at least for the partician retinue issue on Tuesday...

Okay, forgive me my omission of "n't" , and I'll forgive your omission of an "a" in the phrase "is silly statement".
Really, specks and planks people. With all of the international representation on this forum, let's not try to be grammar police. We could be here all day.

I thought this thread was mainly a complaint about the saves not really working (game crash or save corruption) and there not being a hotfix for it. Not the republic crash, that one you can work around. Saves is a different story, disabling auto-saves helps. But it does not fix the issue. Adding mods on top of that makes it even worse.

It is a bit sad to see how gamers have gotten so jaded when it comes companies of not giving a crap about supporting their titles or fixing bugs. It's like half the people out there are just resigned to every game company adopting the EA "Shut up andgive us more money, and we'll maybe think about fixing a couple bugs" model, and the other half are afraid that if they don't constantly raise the issue to good companies that try to support their games properly (Like Paradox) will end up switching to EA's style of running things.

Was nice when we could just get decent games without any drama.

It's about both, not that I've experienced the autosave crash... As far as I know anyway, the game crashes regularly on me because of the retinue ctd.

The only workaround involves a restart - or regular "culling" of patricians without heirs. Or switching off Legacy of Rome... I don't really think any of them are worth wasting time on.

As for jaded gamers, I'm from the good old Commodore days. Back then I'd never even heard of a patch, you were just used to some games not working and then you didn't buy from that company again. These days I wholeheartedly support companies like P'dox, because they're the best. That doesn't mean I think they should be pampered or protected, quite the opposite. We nag them because of love! Especially when they make mistakes like this...

I wouldn't waste two seconds on EA or most other big companies out there.

I'm very disappointed in Paradox with regards to the length of time these bugs have been unpatched, and as such will not be buying anything else from them until possibly EUIV. This is not acceptable to me as a consumer.

You do realize that you just told paradox that it is very acceptable, by suggesting that you still might buy their next major title. Next patch is coming in the next couple of days, by the way..

Assuming that there were several bugs or reasons that caused crashes, they might have wanted to check these and not release a hotfix that doesn't fix anything in the end as they might have overseen something then.
Though the lack of information regarding this was a bit astonishing, but not unusual.
The fix is coming tomorrow with the patch.

I do thnk part of the issue might be that fan expectations have been changing over time. Back in 2003 fans were pretty much okay with knowing that a game would probably be patched eventually. These days, most folks want a little more feedback than a silent assumption that a patch is in the works. Something as simple as a nice public statement along the lines of "We are aware of the bugs and are working to fix them, but our dev team has a lot of commitments on their time, including a release deadline for TOG. would've been nice.

Agreed, especially as it's not just Johan and some helpings hands anymore staring at their screens and eating pizza. The company has slightly grown.
Communications !

Well,...... it's still a nerdy company in many ways. Some good, some rather..irritating. I'm sure they work on it.
