I downloaded 1.1 and started up the install shield, but it a pop-up says HOI2 isn't installed and the installer quits. HOI2 is in the default paradox interactive folder, do i need to reinstall?

We have updated our Community Code of Conduct. Please read through the new rules for the forum that are an integral part of Paradox Interactive’s User Agreement.
Reinstall it, and try a new download of the patch, some people have had it get corupted on them.
Can't install patch 1.1
I've de- and reinstalled HoI2 several times and downloaded the patch file from different locations. But everytime when I run the patch, it says that HoI2 is not installed on my computer and the patch is not applied.
How does the patch executable check the presence of the HoI2 program ? What registry keys have to be present for a correct installation ?

Is this because:
a) I have HOI 1 registry keys installed i.e. a key called Version with a value of 1.06.03?
b) The game is not installed on a C:\ partition, but in E:\Games\HOI2?
c) There's some corrupt InstallShield keys left after trying to install the enhancement?
d) Something else?
Is it possible that a non-installshield version could be made available? Heck, even a zip / rar file with the changed items would do an I'll install them myself manually...

Borrowed a laptop from work.
Installed game into default directory.
Looked in the registry for "Paradox Entertainment"
Found keys! Hurrah!
Exported .reg file to a floppy.
Edited file to point to version on my E:\ partition.
Ran the 1.1 installer again ( the version from CORE, if that's any help! )
Worked! Whoo Hoo!

Two possible reasons for the installer not recongnizing the game is installed, corupted Registry entry or a corupted download of the patch.
I agree, a malformed registry key was the problem in my case. The game runs fine and I can continue with a saved game OK.

What happens if you put the cd in the drive and try to install the game when you have the game installed already?
Is the option to install the game available?
Or does it recognize that the game is installed?

The only options available from the CD's autoplay menu are : uninstall / play / exit. Option "install" is grayed-out. It recognizes that the game is already installed. But - the patch-installer still says it is not !!
Delete the patch, clear your temp internet files, then download it from a different site.
