Sorry, I don't really understand what you are saying.

For the Irassians, I was thinking that given that the Irassians were absolutely massive racists and convinced of their own superiority, perhaps they messed around too much with genetic engineering, leading to the pox arising. In the present time, that could tie into a crisis where if your or the AI does too much genetic engineering, then you might accidentally create a mind worm parasite that hijacks biological entities. So more or less what you were saying.

In my game I found the origin of the plague, it was a malfunction in the air filters in a new found colony. The result was that the pox expanded from there afther silently infecting the colony and all went down hill from there. The Irassians were a big empire already, so the civil and commercial traffic help the fast spreed of the plague (we don't have an estimated time of incubation, but for what I found I theorise that the pox started to produce it's lethals sintoms way afther the thing was contagious, so you can have one ship carrying an infected for more or less two planets before the sick died of the disease)

I have heard many talk of a "bacteriological" crisis... I sincerely find it a bad idea. (multspecies galaxy, easy to quaratine a planet, overhelming medical tecnology) Rather discover that it is not a real infection what struck the Irassians, but rather an entity (quote to lovecraft? The Colour Out of Space?) That takes control of the population. And creates a new pops eater empire
I think Memetics would make far more sense, you can't stop the signal or kill an idea after all, and you can't really research a "cure" to one either without exposing the researchers to it and thus possibly "infecting them"... and then they wont "want" to "cure" it anymore.

now how to represent such a thing in game though? rapid Ethos divergence and Unrest? a multitude of new Factions arising that remain angary even when their demands are met? a custom trait only for the "infected"? perhaps as part of a new internal conflict system that would come with the expansion that adds the Crisis?

Our @StellarisGame art lead really outdid himself with the robot portraits for Synthetic Dawn. The Molluscoid bot is one of my favorites!

It looks awesome! I was kind of expecting some sort of holographic symbols to be floating around in that clear orb on it's head or something, but hey, this is still pretty sweet.

When starting as a machine empire, you get to pick starting robots. When playing organic empire, starting robots are based on species.

Once you unlock robomodding via tech, you can use any robot portrait you want for the templates you design.

Similarly, fully Biologically Ascended empires can swap out the portraits of organic species to any other portrait in same species class.

That's definitely my favorite synthetic design, yet, too. I would totally let one of them sync with my ports, if you know what I mean.
Oh, you're one of THEM.:p

I'd update my datalog to that mainframe.

I still want to make the ethics more distinct, but the Psionics/AI Rights and Ascension paths seems to be the sort of restrictions that really chafe on people's ability to build the empires they want, so I decided to walk back some of the ethics restrictions.
Wait, so can spiritualists take the robotic ascension now?

No, it means they can use Robots as long as they are non sentient, so they can have synths as ling as they have positronic inhibitors to keep them in check.

They can also have Synths in servitude, though the spiritualist faction will be miffed about it. Citizen Rights is the only one that's outright banned for them.

So the only ethic to have an ascension blocked is the spiritualist? Or am I misunderstanding?

No, you can still synthetically ascend with servitude. You just need synths. You're gonna have a lot of issues with materialist attraction and livid factions, but it's possible.

I question where the circuitry could be, suppose they are carefully placed within the base of it. Looks nice if not abit lightbulby! ^^
I hope one of xenophobe's insults/disparaging greetings to these molluscoid bots is something along the lines of "how many [Molluscoid bot] does it take to change a lightbulb?"
