There is a misconception going on that ascension paths are or were restricted by ethos.

That's actually not true and never was. The only requirement those perks have is having researched specific techs (psionic theory for the psionic path, synths + AI personality matrix for the synth path). It's the techs themselves that have ethic requirements/weighted bias (as of 1.6) but you can easily bypass that by temporarily embracing the required ethos and picking up the tech in question as soon as it pops up. Once researched, you permanently unlock access to the associated ascension path, even if you change your ethos afterwards.

Which is wonky and I suspect that's why Psionic Theory is (rightly) being made available to everyone again. Ethics themselves should not directly limit anything that is permanently unlockable because... that's just asking for gamey exploitation like the bait-and-switch move I just described. If you can switch ethics and keep whatever you unlocked before, there is no reason to put it behind an ethos gate in the first place.

In all fairness, ascension paths were effectively restricted by ethos and this was intentional design as decided by me, until I changed my mind as a result of player feedback. That's the relevant facts and no need to pretend otherwise.

Wiz is no god. He can bleed. He can make mistakes. We can even prove he is merely a employee at a video game production and publishing company. Spiritualists and their trying to make something seem more than it actually is...
I find this statement hilariously appropriate considering I misread your username as "Darwinian".

I see some serious heresy here...

IT is said heresy is like a tree its roots lie in darkness while its leaves wave in the sun.You can prune away its branches, or even cut the tree to the ground, but it will grow up again ever stronger.Such is the nature of heresy and why it is so difficult to destroy . For it must be eradicated leaf, branch, trunk and root . It must be exorcised utterly or it will return all the stronger , time and time again , until it is too great to destroy

What robot portrait will ponies use? (or other modded portraits that get filed into their own category)
They should probably just use the standard old "humanoid" portrait for modded in portraits that don't fit within the standard portrait groups.

59:50 As you may have expected, there are currently no machine primitives, but it's on the ToDo list as well as primitive hive minds. Wiz wants to make sure they're unique from the current primitives when they do this, so it will take a fair amount of dev resources.
So as in, they'll be ready for Synthetic Dawn once that comes out? Stone age... synths? Want.

I think primitive synths would probably be a normal space age primitive currently at war with it's rouge robots. Imagine having the choice to either help the organics suppress the rebellion or help the machines overthrow their makers :D

I like this idea! But you'd have to come to some sort of agreement with the robots if you aid them otherwise they'd be trading one master for another...
