At 15:30 of this video you get to hear all of the different advisor voices. Out of the ones we haven't heard before, my favorite is the Xenophile. The woman sounds like a cross between Tali'Zorah from Mass Effect and the Space Core from Portal.
It looks like it's possible to pick robot portrait, but still play as organic civilization, with normal ethics? He picked robot appearance, but it looked like he could still pick anything, not only Gestalt Conciousness... (even Hive Mind!)

It isn't. You can pick invalid combinations of traits/ethics in empire creation, always could. But it's still
Yeah but it's not a trait/ethic, but a portrait (if I understood correctly)

I want to make Stellaris into the best, most engrossing space 4x to ever exist and I think with my amazing team, it can be done.

In my assessment they are more than halfway there, to becoming the best space 4x game. One more big expansion like the last Utopia DLC should do it. If they keep up the pace for a couple more years, I would venture to say that Stellaris may eventually compete for best 4x ever.

I wish Stellaris would have more accurate population numbers and not abstracted. It also is weird how some planets just stop growing after a while. Would be great if there would be no hard caps, only soft ones.
It could actually be done without scrapping current system. Just keep current system and add in-depth view which would have more information. So if planet has 30 population, in in-depth view it could have 30 000 000 or 6 342 415 257 citizens, or more if it keeps growing. But you could only manage the 30 population which are abstract representation of 30 000 000 or 6 342 415 257 people etc. And depending on species, 1 population could either be 1 000 in detailed view or 100 000.

It would just be immersion thing, at least initially, but could be expanded to more detailed system. And immersion is important.
I like this idea, it would work well with a development system in EUIV.

What the game ultimately needs is to make combat more tense and strategic, add some depth to political interactions, and make the player's nation seem more dynamic. That, on top of lots of cool story stuff, would make this game absolutely amazing ~<3

so, now that it's out, does anyone know if the Earth Custodians can spawn when you play as the Commonwealth of Man?

I skimmed through the code and couldn't find anything. :(

shame, having a bit more variety to the CoM's encounters/interactions with Earth would be nice, though that would require a ton more Earth empires to be available to spawn...

umm another question... the mantis shrip portrait seems to have disappeared when I updated the game... does anyone know how to fix that?

Apparently the new multiplayer code has not been merged into 1.8 yet. We'll get the mantis shrimp when it is.
good to hear... sadly I wanted by syncretic slave race/warrior caste to be Mantis-Shrimp monsters....
