Starting in 1419, we've found the following to be well balanced if all humans are of equivalent skill level:
1) Aragon
2) Ottoman Empire
3) Moscovy
'Tis true that Aragon is definitely the weaker of the set here, initially, but consider thoughtfully that her cultures are Iberian and Italian, meaning Italy is a great place to expand and gain manpower from. As Aragon-become-Spain, my manpower was around 100. She keeps both those cultures when she choose to adopt the name "Spain" in 1476. Of course, for that to happen, Castille must be no more.

this is in the earlier scenarios by the way
It is fun because you are all next to each other so you can ally and fight others, or if you are low on time you can have a battle royal.
Believe me when i say for the 1419 and 1492 scenarios they are generally well balanced. Austria is tough and Hungary is equally as tough. Bohemia is the underdog but watch out for her generals early on, they kick some serious bruhaha![]()
