Basically any 3D modeling software that can produce FBX format files.

Out of those I have tried blender (free) and Maya (incredibly expensive) and found them both mind-boggling compared to Wings3d and Milkshape, neither of which export directly to FBX.

and which one is the easiest for beginners but give nice results - regardless of what they cost to purchase ? If it's not in the above list pls add.

I tried many of those softwares. All of them can do almost the same results. But, as a newbie, all of them are overwhelming to me.

So, i just started with Blender, before spending money and time learning other software. After some tutorials (not so much), i get used to their workflow, adjusted some hotkeys, and i'm pretty comfortable.

Since then i tried also more softwares. Some are really fast, pretty easy to use, modelling focused and cheap (Silo 2, Nvil). But Silo 2 seems wont have more updates; Nvil lacks tutorials, and needs some kind of customization (just as Blender). I can do the same with Blender, with the same time, and there's a tutorial or question answered just in one Google click.

Just stick with any of them. If you are unsure, start using Blender. Not only for its price (it's free), it's easy tu use once you get used to their workflow (many hotkeys), and have many features.

Alright, I'm gonna do something I usually don't do. I feel I'm in a heavy minority here, so I don't know how interesting a tutorial will be for anyone if they're not using the same software.

To anyone going the LightWave route; I'll happily share some of my knowledge in one on one sessions through Skype, or even gather a group of you and do a Twitch stream. I find it easier to learn by watching someone else while I try to follow on my own screen, than reading.

Pre-recorded videos are cool and all, but getting feedback on what you'd like to do or see being explained, or help you when you struggle is far better.
Let me know if you're interested.

PS: Doesn't hurt if you also have the LWCAD (wtools3d.com) plugin.
