New units and brigades:

1 -Naval:

1.1 – Surface to air missile upgrade for destroyers/light cruisers – with Armageddon reaching as far as 1963, it would be historically accurate to make available this upgrade. Based on the successful research of the surface-to-air missile, this brigade could alternatively come as the new model of the AA upgrade for non-capital ships. It should greatly enhance AA capability, making life harder and keeping away naval bombers;

1.2 – Surface to surface missile upgrade for battleships, battle-cruisers and heavy cruisers – based on the successful research of the flying bomb, this brigade could alternatively come as the new model of the torpedo upgrade for capital ships. It should greatly enhance anti-surface capability, increasing firing range of the upgraded unit. Historically this should initially reflect the Regulus (V1) system tested in the US Navy;

1.3 – Helicopter upgrade for destroyers/light cruisers – based on the successful research of a new helicopter tech tree in the secret weapons department, it would enhance the ships sub attack, detection range and surface attack capabilities. Historically this should reflect the DASH drone helicopter weapon system, tested on US Navy DD’s and DE’s;

1.4 - Motor torpedo boats flotillas – it has been widely discussed previously but the fact remains that they were a weapons system that was produced and used in large scale by almost all major powers, except Japan, and many minor nations who could not afford large fleets or capital units. Their stats should be similar to Great War Destroyer except with a smaller range (1 or 2 sea zones only) and no air and surface defence. No ASW capability whatsoever, also;

1.5 – Armed merchant cruiser upgrade for transports – another widely used naval option for commerce raiding, commerce defence and sealane patrolling, for most great power and many minor nations who could not afford large fleets or capital units. Their stats should be similar to Great War Light Cruisers except with smaller surface defence values (no armour). They should have some convoy raiding capability reflecting their historical impact on ships sailing by themselves on remote sealanes. No shore bombardment capability, also;

2. Air units:

2.1 – Electronic warfare group for bomber wings – with the development of radar, England, Germany developed specialized air units for jamming enemy radars and guiding their bombers into enemy territory as soon as 1940. The USAAF developed their units after 1943 and later, this entire field became a major tool in cold war intelligence. This brigade should increase strategic bombardment values (increased accuracy) air defence values (more time need for enemy radars and interceptors to intercept, during night missions), and detection ranges. The brigade should become available and gradually updated according to the radar technology research;

3. Land units:

3.1 – Assault helicopter brigades – as mentioned in 1.3, a new helicopter tech tree should be considered and with it, the creation of three brigade upgrades, one for the navy (as mentioned on 1.3). The assault helicopter brigade would be available for commando divisions (paratroop, marine and mountain) and should increase their speed and soft attack values;

3.2 - Attack helicopter brigades - as mentioned in 1.5, a new helicopter tech tree should be considered and with it, the creation of three brigade upgrades, one for the navy (as mentioned on 1.5). The assault helicopter brigade would be available for motorized, mechanized and armoured divisions and increase their hard attack and defence values;

3.3 - Commando brigade – available from the 1939 infantry division model, this brigade should mirror British commando and royal marine commandos, American rangers and marine raiders, Soviet secret police barrage troops, or WWI Italian Arditti units. All these units motivated or forced the divisions with which they worked to greater soft attack and defence capability, as well as in the anti-partisan role. This brigade could be made available for infantry and militia divisions. Automatically upgrades with research into later models of paratrooper, marine or mountain divisions;

3.4 – Motorized brigade upgrade for infantry divisions – activated through the successful research of the 1940 motorized division it should upgrade the “foot” infantry division speed (motorized transport), soft attack and hard-attack values (greater calibre organic artillery) to the same values of the 1940 motorized. Automatically upgrades with the research into the later models of motorized divisions;

3.5 – Mechanized brigade upgrade for infantry divisions – activated through the successful research of the 1943 mechanized division it should upgrade the “foot” infantry division speed (mechanized transport), soft attack and hard-attack values (greater calibre organic artillery) to the same values of the 1943 mechanized. Automatically upgrades with the research into the later models of mechanized divisions;

4 – Tech trees associated:

4.1 – Missile tech-tree – Flying Bomb as initial, then branching into strategic weapons (Ballistic Missile, ICBM) or tactical weapons (Surface to Air Missile, Ship to Ship Missiles, Anti-Ship Missiles);

4.2 – Helicopter tech-tree – Starting as the Early Helicopter (historically the auto-giro) research in the Aircraft folder, following into the Transport Helicopter (activating the assault helicopter brigade) and branching into the Anti-Tank Helicopter (activating the attack helicopter brigade) or the Naval Helicopter (activating the helicopter upgrade for destroyers/light cruisers);

More naval units

1 - SSG/SSGN - Guided missile submarine/nuclear submarine - available from the flying bomb and semi-modern/nuclear submarine technologies, this secret weapon would produce a submarine with great firing range, surface attack and convoy raiding values, increased if the nuclear bomb technology is known;

2 - SSB/SSBN - Balistic missle submarine/nuclear submarine - availabel from the balistic missile and semi-modern/nuclear submarine technologies, this secret weapon would produce a submarine with devastating firing range and shore bombardment capabilites, similar to a strategic bomber nuclear attack;
