His game installed fine with all the patches but the secreen was mostly black and shrunk the actual game play screen as if its a movie where the game was in the middle of his screen with back at the bottum and top parts of his screen.

He's computer meets the requirements what would be the problem?
 
Make sure he has the latest video driver. Then have him register here since solving problems third hand would be difficult.
 
He rarely uses the internet but I'll ask.
 
Well I would need things like his DX diag files and such.
 
as soon as he comes on msn i'll him. I made sure he has the proper patches.
