IIRC it was the same game as above, when I was about to strike at SU, they had 300 divisions in the field and 40+ air units. I felt I did not have the numbers to take them on with hope to force BP, but I had three nukes ready and V1's to launch them. (Yes, I put a lot of research in nukes, that hurt the economy)
In three carefully planned nuke attacks, I managed to wipe out 100-150 land divisions and about half their air force. Naturally, Barbarossa was a formality after that.
I'm surprised at the concern over that size of soviet army and airforce. I would consider an army of 300 divisions a complete push over. In fact I have never encountered a soviet army that even made me nervous and I have had one or two two front wars over the years.

My objection is quite specifically that as soon as you use nukes in europe the game is ahistoric in that the germans are deprived of the option to respond with their own "horror" weapons. I cannot believe that chemical weapons are any more horrific than atomic weapons so the decision to exclude is 'political' rather than anything to do with reasonableness or play balance.
