Wait a tic... they didnt see anything, now are pinging. Does that mean something else showed up? BLOW IT UP!

They're just double checking that there's nothing, since active sensors are more powerful. It was always highly unlikely that anything would be there, since it would have to have found all the jump gates to Procyon from some unknown system while slipping past our own scouts.

As expected, the surrounding space remains empty as the Procyon expedition heads inward towards Dravar XV.

This first operational mission provides excellent field experience for everyone concerned, both Naval crews and Naval Auxiliaries...

... and after three days of unloading Infrastructure, Colonists and automated mines, the colony is established! Mankind has conquered a new world!

Another unexpected glitch develops... the planet turns out to be somewhat colder and less habitable than the initial reports had led us to believe. The expedition did not bring quite enough Infrastructure to support 150,000 people in such a hostile environment. Governor Nixon predicts that unless more Infrastructure is quickly delivered, as many as ninety people might die over the course of the next year. Commodore Arjyla promises him that Earth will not let them down... a second expedition will be organized immediately upon the Fleet's return to the Solar System.

Might I suggest letting the fleet return to Earth and perform manuevers. We have established the safety of the route and now have an active sensor bay on the new colony. Let the fleet return to Earth and then let the civvies continue supply runs.

Those mercs you talked about in regards to the civvie mines in the outer Solar System, will they pop up in Dravar?

And I DID say in the planning meeting to not spoil the ship over an ounce of tar. But no, nobody listened. Professional experience my ass.

Be it as it may. The "Hansa" volunteers for further supply flights.

We can debate this. I'm open to persuasion. I had intended another full-up mission, though.

The Mercs only pop up on company property (Pratt Shipping and Mining).

EDIT: we do not in fact have any sensors on Dravar XV... sensors are an installation, which must be built. I don't even think that one can be shipped in.

That makes nine ships in total: three Colonizers loaded with colonists in frozen sleep, five Freighters carrying supplies for setting up the colony, and a Tanker.
Yeah, my first jump!

And since I also don't like the idea of sending nearly all of our civilian vessels off to another star system with no escort... that only leaves one option: send the entire fleet along with them.
Hopefully, this works out OK.
Come on, it worked well with the Galactica!

MSG ESN Thor @ Struve 2398 to Fleet Ops Survey
New jump point found in Struve 2398 system
Coord 3.1 b-km bearing 92 degrees from Struve 2398 => Ross 248 jump point
Will investigate unless recalled
- Cmdr Lord Blekinge out

New Struve 2398 jump point leads to Gliese 892-A
Primary star orange K3-V

No moons no asteroids no nothing
Am returning to Struve 2398 to continue mapping

Have you considered terraforming the planet?

At some point, yes. There are more urgent priorities. More Infrastructure is desperately needed... although the word "desperately" should be taken with a grain of salt. Those 90 expected attrition losses are out of a population of 150,000. Automated Mines. Factories, to give the colonists something to do... at the moment, we have a planet full of welfare bums. A pair of mass drivers, so that we can set up mining operations on a nearby moon or asteroid and send the ore to Dravar XV.

How's Henry D'Aazrof doing? (skills)
And what? (current research)

Not sure if he skilled up in anything or not... research bonus still +35%. Researching Composite Armor for our next generation of Spacecraft.

MSG ESN Thor @ Sigma Draconis to Fleet Ops Survey
New Struve 2398 jump point leads to Sigma Draconis
Primary star orange K0-V
Five rocky planets one more habitable than Mars Nitrogen 81% Oxygen 19%
Great, another interesting planet located beyond Ross 248...

How is the jump gate to Dravar XV going?

Still just an idea. The idea is getting more and more attractive, though, now that we hold both ends of the jump point.

Jump Gate are nice to let small vessels travel through star systems.
But it´s worth to remember that they only work from the system you build them. So if you wanna go the other way you need to build another gate at the other system as well.

My only issue is that you can not destroy them if you get desperate.

Hm. Interesting.
Why do you think the colony ships were able to assist-jump one cargo vessel at a time, but not two? Do you think it's a bug or is it something you overlooked?

BTW I'm toying with the idea of putting the jump drives on the cargo ships (or at least half of them) instead of the colony ships. After all these will get to do the round trip more often.

Captain Arjyla is promoted to Commodore
Commander Edzako is promoted to Captain
Commander Autonomous is promoted to Captain

I also recommend both of my captains for a bigger ship once they become available, particularly Ezdako who has displayed sound judgement and isn't a liberal wimp.

Wohoo, promotion ! Thanks for support Commodore ! Have I lost my impoverished trait ?
