Adding a Custom Emblem

Hello!

A while back I saw a thread posted here with instructions on how to add the gold-ish gradient that paradox has for their emblems, but I can no longer find it, even with searching

So, i have a few questions;

1) Is this necessary? Or is it just a stylistic thing?

2) If it is necessary, Can somebody help point me in the right direction as to how to apply it to an emblem image?

3) If not, what are the requirements for an emblem image?

No, the gold gradient is not necessary, unless you want to follow the same style as the rest of the emblems in game
