That is very interesting actually. I expected stuff to be worked on a bit more "in advance" of the coming years though admittedly we are still away away from AuH and its only halfway through the year(god where did the time go). Still, surprising! Though maybe that's just an effect of AuH at least seeming to have more stuff than the previous expansions? It does seem utterly massive.

Anyway while this is maybe wishful thinking, I do hope stuff like these Elephant Duels and other mechanical and flavor updates within East Asia could get added at some point in a patch in 2026 as a sort of "Rallying Update" to All Under Heaven. Just to cover feedback that just isn't actionable between now and the proper release.

We currently don't have horse-mounted individual combat, but I think the existing duel system could be adopted for both horse and elephant combat.

Duels on elephants are depicted in the Theravadin world going back to the Mahavamsa in Lanka, though not consistently in a ritualized way. Even Naresuan's combat with the Burmese prince, when you take a synoptic look at all the versions of the royal chronicals and other sources, appears to have happened in an unplanned way. I still think challenging another ruler to elephant combat in lieu of a full war could be a fun option though.
I still like the the rationalized that combine Portuguese mercenary account, the Burmess side and the Thai side account on that being Naresuan sniping Burmess' Upparat with with his trusty gun and the account of elephant dueling are post-war propaganda lol

Maybe we could add a mounts system for people who want to ride horses, camels and elephants.
And the possibilities are even more dramatic for fantasy mods. Deers, great wolves, dragons, goats ...

Modifying existing features is easier than adding new features at this point!

I'm just a programmer currently chiseling away at Japanese UI, so the game design isn't really my forté, but right now I'd probably say that we're not exactly in need of even more content to finish for this DLC ;)

It's already absolutely enormous and honestly, as someone who's looking forward to playing this thing, at this point I'd rather have everything that's already in to function well and be somewhat balanced!
If not in 2025, maybe in another animal focused DLC in the future? Dogs, cats, horses, falcons and even pet rats and pet parrots from CK2.

I would adore if they added our pets as characters or something, I've heard it said many times that *characters* don't tax performance that much if they make no decisions and have no AI, cats certainly won't be scheming to usurp the Kingdom of Romagna.

It would open up a lot of interesting features such as having your pets be descendants of your previous pets, the ability to assassinate your rival's favorite Rat, or even the ability to contract the plague or something from ya Rat. (Insert court event where you put a Dog on trial for eating your Catholic Homework.)

Though I think any Pet DLC would be.... later in the game's lifecycle, people are hungry for meatier additions.
