Having a flat screen of 1024x768 resolution I was disappointed to see that there is no way of changing the screen resolution. I saw the post telling that 800x600 is the only option, but there were no explanations. Will there be a patch to cure the display problem with laptops and other flat screen? If not, why? If yes, when?

Think of all that poor people out there with a 22 inch monitors...

My flat screen doesn't manage 800x600 very well. It widens the pixels and the effect on small text is not pretty at all. Some text is almost unreadable. I'd rather have a game in 1024x768 with only the 800x600 sized corner in use, and the rest in black. That would be better than to have some pixels double wide.

Will it be possibe to run the game in 800x600 window instead of screen?

No, no,

no, this isn't a good 'default' resolution!.
You always have to zoom continously in and out in order to manage the game on the one hand and to get an overview on the other hand.

It's the most unnerving feature of your (otherwise very good) game...

I understand that this can't be changed by an update or patch and i'm not claiming about it.

But I don't accept your "800*600 GREAT default resolution" statement.
This sounds like just hushing the fact of a design fault or the reuse of an old graphic engine...

EU is the only strategy game I know without the facility of changing the screen resolution. If you really think that 800*600 is a good DEFAULT you should have set it as DEFAULT and let the users choose their OWN setting.

I have to agree, I'd love to see a patch that gave us the ability to change screen res, heck I'd pay for an upgrade that allowed it. Of course then I'd have to wait for the crack to come out so that I can actually install the patch and get it to run since SafeDisk seems to hate my hardware - what a crock.

Good grief man! A "Patch" to allow a resolution change? The "Patch" would be rather a hefty size due to graphics etc. There is no way that the resolution will be changable in EU, EU2 maybe but never EU.

Actually I rather assume that you're right - if the engine had been written with any form of scalability in mind then I expect that we'd have seen this feature in the original.

That said, Who said that the graphics change? I don't what them to get bigger, but to stay the same and just be clear and small unlike the horrible and crappy display that you currently get if you zoom out.

Either way it's pretty pointless trying to second guess how Paradox implemented the UI, I know enough about it to know how much I don't know so I'll just leave it at that.

I'm sorry to tell you this but there will be no update that will allow higher resolutions in EU. Our next game will definately have this implemented from start. The reason for no update is as written above. We would have to remake most of the graphic elements in the game.

Howdy,
Gee I guess that buying a flatscreen wasnt such a good idea then huh :}, I have a non flatscreen monitor, and it works great with EU, also I know of a bunch of games out there that DONT give you the option to change the settings...so your implication that ONLY EU seems to be in the back of the pack is rather incorrect.
