So I was playing Jon Snow from the AFFC start while watching the episode "Hardhome," and it got me thinking, why isn't there some sort of mechanic/event series for Jon reconciling with the wildlings. As far as I could tell, there weren't any wildlings around, at least south of the Wall even after Winter took everything north of it, which I found strange, as Snow's Command centered on making peace with the wildlings to focus on fighting the Others.

With that in mind, I propose an event series for when Jon stays as Lord Commander, which focuses on dealing with
1. any captive wildlings from the Battle of Castle Black
2. making peace with the wildlings, perhaps giving them The Gift and making them vassals of The Watch, giving them more potential forces to fight the Walkers
3. having the opportunity to lead an army to Hardhome (or perhaps a random province) to go and "get" the rest of the wildlings, like what Jon sends ships to do in the book and what he does himself in the show

basically, this is just my $.02. Not sure how feasible they are, but I'd figure I'd share it anyway just in case

Out of curiousity, what do you actually do in a Night's Watch game? I've tried one before and found it really, really boring. Does the Night's Watch do anything interesting if you aren't playing Jon Snow or otherwise playing a major character?

Well, if the White Walkers are marching south, you are the first line of that threat, as well as whenever there's a King-Beyond-the-Wall

From the AFFC start as Jon Snow, you have the option to join Stannis as his Lord of the North, or stay with the Watch, which has a couple of events from his story - but really only those focusing on Sam heading to the Citadel. What I'm proposing here is expanding those events, and actually incorporating the alliance with the wildlings. Make it more dynamic and interesting.

But yea, beside those rare situations, playing at the Wall is....well, it's nice if you want to play a not-serious game making bastards of all different dynasties while reruns of the TV show because it's on a marathon

Yeah, that's basically what I've been doing. I'm playing an Ironborn Lord Commander I made in the Ruler Designer. Most of the game has been raiding the Wildlings with my enormous army and taking their wives to see if it'll piss 'em off enough to duel me.

So far only one guy did. Sucks.

I was hoping the Night's Watch would be more interesting to play. 'Defense Forever' is not really very fun. Maybe they could spice it up and let you militarize or get a Casus Beli against people who deny you during Winter?

If John somehow get's the Wildlings to march with Stannis, I think a 'resettlement' of them in the lands previously held by traitors (the Boltons and Karstarks, mostly) could be neat and interesting.

I dont think all the Karstarks are traitors though. There is Alys who is married to the Thenn guy, and the current ruler who is imprisoned by the Lannisters, both of whom are still loyal, so giving out the Karstark lands to the wildlings ( unless of course Thenn inherits and allows it ) is kinda wrong.

But, certainly not as normal feudal lordships - as tribes (like the Hill Tribes of the North).

Episode 8 of season 5 was superbly done. Absolutely loved it, and as a book worm, the TV series is making some interesting changes to the book cannon. Its going to be confusing coming back to the book if RR will release it before he or I keel over.

On the matter at hand, the idea of reconciliation between the wildlings and the nightswatch to face the white walkers would be awesome, especially if
They add a chance for the Wun Wun dilema/coup that occurred in A Dance with Dragons with Jon with the chance of him either survivng or dying. For those not able to resist clicking the spoiler, I'm sorry
