The only way I can run the game is if I uninstall the game and reinstall and play as vanilla.

Its great, but sometimes I want a thomas the tank engine instead of stalker ya know?

Mostly, im just using a heat sink mod and a hardpoint mod, and when i try to boot up my save, the game loads continuiously. Not sure what to do about the infinate load times. Advice?

Read and obey the pinned thread about uninstalling Battletech cleanly.

@Quiller9
I haven't seen any updates for BTML at Github or Nexus or by googling, where is the alpha?

In case mods remove the external link, search GitHub for janxious BTML and janxious ModTek. He took over from MpStark a while ago.

I watched an event for Flashpoint where HBS folks said something like: "We don't support mods. We can't. But we allow access so that modders can do so."

Just saying that there is a HUGE difference between

"We don't support mods."

and

"Let's remove the foundation that almost all mods are based upon with our first major patch."

SMH

I realize that I'm new to the game, but this really is not leaving a good first impression. Along with the freezes, long pauses, and random forced restarts. Mods made this game MUCH more playable and enjoyable.

major version changes like this have always broken mods.(like 1.2 to 1.3 stuff like 1.2 to 1.2.1 will not in most cases)
it is just the way it is.
and in this case they have refined code to make things better and they have warned us that this was going to happen.
while HBS doesnt officially support them they do go out of their way to make it easier for modders to mod.
such as including a flashpoint editor and making so much of the game files accessible.
and fear not the modders are working on 1.3 versions as real life permits.

also....some at HBS admit to using mods themselves

For some very technical reasons, the way BTML and Modtek work is INCREDIBLY fragile. It's going to need updates with just about every major patch, and there really isn't anything realistic that HBS can do about that.

so has anyone gotten mods to work
Using the most recent BTML and yesterday's new ModTek alpha build from janxious, I was able to load the Marauder and Phoenix Hawk mods and my own work in progress and have them appear in skirmish mechlab.

I was using a mod manger which automatically installed both BTML and Modtek for that mod manger is no longer compatible can you please tell me how to install BTML and Mod Tech

You need to search GitHub for janxious and get his BTML and ModTek. The mod manager still tries to use Mpstark's BTML and ModTek that were abandoned some time ago. For some reason GitHub search doesn't find janxious versions when searching for BTML and ModTek, you'll have to search for his user profile.

I'd post a direct link if the forum allowed it.
