so I start up a paradox game and all i get is a black screen but then the music starts to play. I originally thought this might be the not responding for 1 minute thing that paradox games like to do when starting up but after waiting 20 minutes i still had a black screen with a loading wheel. it seem though that ck2 is different in which the game starts up i hear the music but all i can see is my desk top and i cant use my mouse. this problem started at the beginning of august 2018 and i have updated everything in case that was the problem. I really need help on this one.

Did this happen after the large Windows 10 update that everyone got recently? Because that has caused a lot of problems with many of our games.
Do check that your video driver is installed okay and up to date, as the Windows update messed up some people's video driver installations:

One further thing you could try is to edit the settings.txt files of each game, and set fullScreen=no and borderless=no , as some people have reported that helped.
And right-click on the game's .exe and select Properties, Compatibility, and tick "Disable Fullscreen Optimisations". Apply and exit.
And finally, in the same screen you can try setting Windows 8 Compatibility on, or even Win XP SP3 compatibility !
