Almost a modding question; I can't release Spain having annexed it!

Playing 36 Campaign as Germany.

Republician Spain wins civil war and joins the Allies when the general war breaks out. Opted against the MR pact having fought an earlier war against the Czechs and Poland as a result of the Czech fighting post the annexation of the Sudatenland (may be related to the Republican victory in the SCW).

Anyway good ol' France kicks off the war out of utter turdishness and the Soviets stab me in the back as per usual. So I invaded France and then Spain and annexed Spain as I held all its victory point provinces. Vichy France does not trigger because the Soviets are in the war.

I wish to release Spain because of TC considerations once the Soviets get their comeuppance. Unfortunately, I can't release Spain as a puppet as it does not display on the diplomatic tab unde the liberate nation option. All of teh other countries that I could possibly creat are there Poland, Flanders, Wallonia, Eskadi (the bike team?) and Slovenia (I shared the Czechoslovakia break up with Hungary.

Now is their any file where these new countries are kept where I can create an option for releasing a fascist Spain. Or do I have to cut and paste a saved game from when Nationalist Spain exisited give them a province use the accept all cheat to bring them into the Axis and then load tehm up with all of eth Spaininsh provinces 5 at a time?

The latter option may work but surely there must be something else I can do so that I can release Spain?

Its likely to release Nationalist Spain you will need most of its colonies, which you will not have (France will have them probably) hence you cannot release Nationalist Spain.

You could alter revolt.txt in db/ but doing so would make future civils wars run very strange indeed.

Similarly, releasing Republican Spain is also difficult as you ALSO need most of the colonies.

I just loaded a save where I had annexed Rep. Spain and I gave the Moroccan regions to Germany and could still release Nat. and Rep. Spain. So I don't think it requires you to have their colonies.

Well their colonies have no VP provinces so it just might be that my version of the game is a litttle screwy. The checksum is certainly very weird.

What's the situation with the UK? The only thing I can think of is that if you didn't take Gibraltar, then maybe the Brits took Seville while you were preoccupied with the Soviets, and then you wouldn't be able to release Spain.

Found the fault.

Portugal was in the Axis and controlled one VP Province La Corona (sp?) so I could not create Nat Spain. Used acceptall cheat to take the province off Portugal and viola! I could create Nationalist Spain.
