Hello all,

I have encountered something that might be a bug, unless someone can offer a plausible explanation.

I am playing a GC as Spain. It is now 1760, and I have colonized most of northern and central America. I also have expanded from my original holdings in the Netherlands into what is now known as Germany and Switzerland. I have managed to vassalize Savoy, Genoa, Parma and Tuscany, with Genoa and Tuscany since 1740.

Now I try to Annex these two, but the option remains grayed out. As I have annexed through vassalization before (Bayern, for example), I figured I need a bordering province first. Milan is the closest, and owned by France.

So I DoW France. As before (I already had fought two wars with France), I march on the Capital, and on two provinces I want to conquer (Milan and Champaign). The fleets sail out of port, and almost immediately clash with the French navy.

Since so many action is going on, all my attention is focussed on western europe. Suddenly, a dialog pops up stating that an army has been annihilated, in north America !

So I scroll over and check it out. I see a French army marching away, into Niagara, size 14. I also see that Niagara no longer has any native population. Also, the natives in Eerie have disappeared.

Around the great lakes, those two provinces were the only ones I had not colonized yet (Natives are extremely aggressive, so I took easier targets first). The entire coastline of north America has been colonized by me, so normally it should be impossible for France to put an army into Niagara.

So my question is this:

How did the native population disapear (it was still there just before I DoW'd France), and where did this size 14 French army come from?

The army can come from a boat or from a colony that you can't see.
The natives can also be annihilated by other countries, not only by you.

P.S. It is good to see Holland doing so well.

As I already had stated, I own every other province in that region. There were no provinces in northern America, owned by France.

Also, the Great Lakes do not have a water connection with any other water body, so ships from outside the lakes should not be able to sail into the lakes.

So, as far as I can tell, unless the AI is cheating, no other country should have been able to legally put troops ashore in Niagara or Eerie.
