My only problem with the manuals (at least in EU3) is that, good as they are on first release, they lose much of their 'reference' value as soon as a new expansion is out. It would be much nicer if a single document was kept up-to-date rather than the separate whatsnew docs being released on each expansion.
Actually, the only thing that interests me is precisely that "Waht's New" stuff. As a veteran player, I wouldn't want to ree-read a 200+ page manual and try to find out what changed...

Yeah, but if you buy into a game after the first expansion, trying to read the manual then assimilate the changes from the expansion can get somewhat confusing.

I like manuals that I can read in the toilet, I don't want to sit reading those in front of my screen. :p
Rennslaer is doing a great job, but the manuals lose their purpose after the first expansions.

And btw, people still go to shops in search of good games, not everyone uses the internet to learn of new nice games.
If the game has a nice box, it might be bought.

so do we get a cool boxed collectors edition version of V2?
I'd pay anything.

Mmm...CK MMO. Editing your post cannot remove the allure.

They're designing a Civ for Facebook, so obviously, there should be Vicky and CK for Facebook.

*hides from the angry mob*

Seconded. And if it will exist, what will it contain? A miniature train? A little boer guerilla figurine? Victoria sitting on a throne? :D

A POP figurine, created by artisans?

IIRC there was a project to make it possible to download from Gamersgate not only games which were purchased there, but every game that a user had registered on p-dox forum. Am I right? If yes - are you still considering that?

But I can't do it! I won't be coerced! You can't hide the truth Paradox! :p

Maybe they'll do a CK expansion for Sims 3...

I'm not saying that the 'What's New' docs should disappear, only that it would be good if they were also merged back into the main manual after each new expansion.

Same here, I didn't read the AoD manual because I couldn't be bothered finding the news bits in it that had changed from HoI2

1) Are you a cat or a dog person? And why?

2) What is the first computer game you remember playing?
(In my case it waqs Loderunner on an apple II)

3) Is there one thing you would like to add or improve in your games that time and/or money and/or the law makes impossible? For example: you would like to add an AI that learns from the things it does, but that would be ridiculously expensive. Or... you would like to add a feature that displays a hot girl/guy telling you how wonderful you are under certain specific circumstances, but you doubt that Johan would allow it through testing...

A little bit of both. I like how cats are independent, they do not need you to always be around, but dogs are more loyal and submissive.

I can't remember the name of the game, it was on a floppy disk and I played it on a black-and-white Macintosh. You should collect all the treasure chest while avoiding NPCs who killed you if they touched you. You could destroy the ground and make them fall into a hole. That was your only skill. After collecting the treasure chests you could climb all the way up on a ladder and enter the next area. There were other games on that old Macintosh but the only game I remember was that one.

That was Loadrunner! :D

I had forgotten the name of it, but apparently it was the first Lode Runner I played. Cool, I finally have a name on the first game I ever played :D

This is how it looked like:

Yep, that was the same one I played, except all in Green. I found a site where you could play the Nintendo version online, but it's not quite the same as the Apple version.

And don't ask me why I spelt it wrong the second time I typed it in.

I got some questions...

1) Have mods for your games ever influenced the development of patches or expansions before HTTT?

2a) Do you foresee more console games after Lead & Gold, maybe even Paradox own games?
2b) OR do you think that Pdox games are impossible to realize on those platforms?

3) Do you agree that the forum community changed with HOI, that there is still a mentality split between HOIers and the rest?

4) If you could get the right for a (dead) license, which one would you want to revive? (Any Bullfrog fans?)

5) Will there be a collector's edition for Vicky 2 to join EU3 and Rome on my shelf? :D

Populous 3: The Beginning is the single, most original, bestest game ever creation in gaming history. Ever. I would say for Paradox to buy it, but I'm not sure they could ever build a worthy successor to that game (Exacerbated by the fact that they have no experience in RTS games). No game can reach near it.

A worthy sequel needs the same sweeping originality and depth in strategic concepts (The brave-Shaman relation, the awesome spells, the concept of transmorphable terrain as a key path in strategic thinking), while keeping all the good aspects of the game (Heck, pretty much the whole game's concepts. :D). If someone ever dares to make a sequel that corrupts, violates, dishonors, the magnificence of Populous 3, I'll... I'll...! I'll cast a Tornado upon all the producers, developers and publishers of the game!

It's like in a scale of 0 to 10, Populous 3 is the only game that gets a 15. It's THAT good.
