One line summary of your issue
Game crash on close prevents Windows 10 from rendering other windows or the desktop

What platform are you running the game on?
Steam

What operating system do you use?
Windows 10

Which version of the game are you running?
1.9.1-686R

What DLC do you have installed?
Flashpoint, Urban Warfare, Shadowhawk Pack, Heavy Metal

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
While trying to set up a reproduction of this issue https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...me-froze-after-overheat-coolant-vent.1367599/ I hit a very serious bug that deserves it's own thread.
I got a unit hit with infernos and then selected quit game to generate an ironman save. I believe the save was generated, (I can't check until after I upload it, 'cause Ironman) but then the game background and cursor did not stop rendering - and rendered over every other window I tried to switch to. This made it impossible to use Task Manager to kill the process, even though I was able to launch task manager several ways. The windows key still worked, and ctrl-alt-del still pulled up it's fullscreen menu and I could interact with both and the task bar. Task manager (rendering in a task bar preview) seemed to indicate Battletech wasn't responding. Eventually I killed the process by logging out of my account.

The attached output log is probably from when I relaunched the game to verify the version number for this report -- might want to reorder your form so this issue doesn't happen.

Have you tried verifying your files?
Yes

Steps to reproduce the issue
I haven't reproduced it yet, but I'm including the save I believe was generated, as well as the logs. If the crash issue isn't reporducable, perhaps the other linked overheat issue is. Steps I believe will reproduce it: open that save, get a coolant vent equipped mech overheated by inferno missiles, and then jump, and then coolant vent. I'll update if I am able to reproduce it - but because this is an Ironman game I'm not able to send you the relevant save after I've reproduced the issue.

You are right, there's nothing in that output log relating to that crash. I do see the game is running on an Intel Xe video system, which is not supported hardware for the game. But I'm not sure that's the cause of your problems.

What I would recommend is going into the game's advanced video options and making sure Vsync is set, so it runs at the refresh rate of your Windows desktop (48hz), to prevent the game overheating your hardware.

Note that if the infernos issue you mention is a game bug, it will not be fixed as there will be no more patches for this game - it ceased development last year.

Thanks for the prompt reply. Understandable that the game is no longer in development. I'll update with more output logs if/when the issue re-occurs.
Vsync is currently set to "enabled" but thanks for the tip.
