One line summary of your issue
Game Crashes to blank screen mid mission

What platform are you running the game on?
Steam

What operating system do you use?
Window 10

Which version of the game are you running?
1.9.1

What DLC do you have installed?
Flashpoint, Urban Warfare, Shadowhawk Pack, Heavy Metal

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
The game will stop and then go to a blank screen when in the middle of a mission. When I try to go back to the game all I see is the games cursor. I can't start the game after that point until I restart the computer. I check the temperature on my GPU and CPU when it crashes and I see them both around 45-50 degrees Fahrenheit. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game following the instructions in the bug report forum. It even happens when starting a new game. Sometimes I can get farther than others but not by much. I have double checked my Nvidia drivers and reinstalled them as well.

Have you tried verifying your files?
Yes

Steps to reproduce the issue
Try to play a level

Attach DxDiag (PC), System Info log (Mac), or run sudo lshw -html > specs.html and uploaded specs.html (Linux)
File(s) attached

Attach Output Log
Windows: \Users\YourUserName\AppData\LocalLow\Harebrained Schemes\BATTLETECH\output_log.txt
Mac OS: Users >{name} > Library > Logs > Unity > Player.log
Linux: ~/.config/unity3d/Harebrained Schemes/BATTLETECH/Player.log

File(s) attached

If the game crashed, please attach the crash file with the time stamp closest to the crash.
Windows: [Steam library folder]\steamapps\common\BATTLETECH\DumpBox
For v.17 and beyond try here: C:\Users\[YourUserName]\AppData\LocalLow\Harebrained Schemes\BATTLETECH
OSX: Macintosh HD > Users > [username] > Library > Application Support > Steam > steamapps > common > BattleTech > DumpBox
Linux: [Steam library folder]/steamapps/common/BATTLETECH/DumpBox

File(s) attached

If a save game was loaded at the start of the game session, upload it. Please make sure to upload the save game with the timestamp closest to when you loaded it.

From that crash log it is fairly clearly a video graphics issue, but why it is affecting you like this but not others with the same setup and driver I'm not sure.

I see you have a number of mods in use in that log. I don't know tem but some look like they may be graphics mods? Can you test this issue in a campaign or career that has no mods in use?

I forgot about those mods but I turned them off and tried again same issue from a new story game. Here are the new files. GPU still didn't make it above 50 degrees Fahrenheit.

50f is only ~10c - are you sure about that? 50c would make a lot more sense ... !

I see a number of LiveKernelEvents in that dxdiag. This is when Windows is forcibly downed or rebooted. Are you seeing those events, are they related to this game or something else?

Then we see one crash in this game against DirectX11:
+++ WER3 +++:
Fault bucket 1302876422327784852, type 4
Event Name: APPCRASH
Response: Not available
Cab Id: 0

Problem signature:
P1: BattleTech.exe
P2: 2018.4.2.64310
P3: 5cf7e95c
P4: d3d11.dll
Whether that is a cause or a symptom of all those video errors in the game log I'm not sure. We could have a Windows, nVidia driver or nVidia hardware issue here.

Sorry you were right it's C not F. I have not had any problems with other games or stability of my machine otherwise. What would you recommend for a windows fix seeing as everything else works fine. I have no idea where to even start on what could be the problem there.

As I say, Windows has clearly been forced down or rebooted, several times. You have not seen or done that yourself?

You could try this Windows repair tool:

Then a clean reinstall of the nVidia driver:

- uninstall it and all other nVidia software
- reboot
- install the latest by fresh download from here:
- reboot again

Good luck with that!
