UPDATE: I've been troubleshooting this issue for at least an hour and a half now. Tried many things, such as uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, attempting to make sure my audio output is stereo and not surround, and finding out the Battletech Launcher no longer has an option to pick your video player.

I reverted the game to it's 1.2.1 state in the Steam betas, and it allowed the cutscene in question to play normally; sound video and all. Now attempting to revert back to the latest version of the game to see if it works still.

EDIT: Problem still occurs when I revert back to the newest version of the game.

Try uninstalling that RealTek audio driver and rebooting. Windows will offer to install a driver; hopefully it will pick a different version! And the reinstall process may help too.

Good luck with that!

So far the next couple of cutscenes have played normally. Haven't uninstalled anything yet. Seems to be just that first cutscene after the tutorial, but regardless I think I'll just settle for keeping the folder of cutscenes on my desktop and playing the appropriate one if another issue arises.
