Beta patch: buggy sound

After installing the latest beta patch, I've encountered stutter in all combat and siege sound sequences. Everything seemed to be right before, so this is most likely not a hardware issue.

I haven't tried new beta patch yet, but I used to have stutter at times with combat and siege sounds before betas, which was obviously caused by my comp being so crappy. (although I have now removed sounds completely) So it might be performance issue as beta patches might have increased performance needs.

I can confirm this.

When there is a siege or a battle in a province, if you select it to take a look on the oucome, instead of the "good 'ol siege sound" you can hear an hell of noise!!

Deinstalling the betapacth this behaviour disappears

Confirmed here, too.

Sounds like a damn machine gun :D

I have the same problem (after installing the beta). Sounds like a music cd that hangs itself and repeat the same line over and over again.

Same here. I deinstalled CK, re-installed from CD, applied patch 1.04a and then the beta, but the problem remains.

P.S.: When extracting the beta-rar-thingy, I get several "file header broken" messages, which I boldly ignore... ;)

P.P.S.: I own the german language version of CK.

I'm also having this problem. Also I've found that the SFX slider in game does not work on the broken sounds as you hear them at normal volume even at 0.

Well, if you want a temporary and limited solution, you can remove sounds completely by renaming folder SFX.

I too am experiencing this on both seige and combat screens. Note that after I select another province the sound then plays itself out normally (stutter/buzz while selected then sound file plays after loading new visuals) so I hear seige sound while looking at pastoral province.

yep confirmed, a MG42 !!!

I guess one of the HOI2 sound files got mixed up, ;)

Same here - it is like an echo, as if two sound files were played at the same time, with a small delay.

Incidentally, if you click on a siege (when the cacophony starts) and then click on a different, nearby province, the sound plays normally (there is normal siege noise).

Seige sounds normal on my comp, but during the front phase of combat there is a sound of laser weapons being used

Laser weapon during combat for me as well. But I can reset the sound to 0 and have been playing that way ever since.

Marc aka Caran...

P.S.: No idea bout siege sound as I set the sound to 0 the first combat I noticed this and the first siege only happened after that.
