Big problem with internet game!

I treid to play with my friend over internet, but could not locate each other. Could there be a problem with the internet connection i use(not very likely).
So if ye have any spare time please answer.

Probably a firewall problem.

I get around this by unplugging my firewall (turning it off)
There's a better way to do this as other people have mentioned on previous threads, but it's too complicated to me

The problem

The probem seems to that my internet provider has closed all tcp-ports but my UDP-ports are open. So if the EU2 oses TCP i cant play but mayby(if someone knows) i could use udp or is it impossible
