Hi all,

So still on my Kingdom of Sicily game, and had a recent war against the Al-Murabitids, eventually taking over the territory of the Duchies of Leon and Galicia. To free up room in my demesne I decided to give away some other territories, including the Duchy of Porto. I chose to create a Bishopric in northeast county of the 4 that make up this Duchy, and then to give the other counties and Duchy itself to one of my relatives. Unfortunately I only had two people in my court who could be made a bishop, and one of them was my diocese bishop, so I gave it to the other one. I did this so quickly I failed to notice that he was dead! I wondered if the bishopric would sort itself out after a month or a year but it hasn't - so for the last few years I have had a zombie bishop in my realm! It's not a huge problem, because he's actually the vassal of my vassal the Duke of Porto, but it's still very odd... Any ideas?

Cheers,
Stigandr.

well he will stay that way until eternity if I am not mistaken. but there is an easy solution to the problem. Hit F12 for the cheat console ----> select the "zombie bishop" ----> type in "die" = undead bishop dies and someone normal succeeds :)

double-check and triple-check to see that the undead bishop is indeed the selected character (ie. you need to have the character screen open for this), so you don't accidentally kill your king, or heir!

Can he become the Pope? That would make you papal controller forever!

Don't think so, since when your current ruler dies a new papal controller will be selected. Also when you save and reload the game will select a new papal controller.

Also you don't become PC just because a vassal-bishop of yours become the Pope.

Just for my own curious mind, isn't the Papal Controller selected thusly:

If available, the ruler with the highest piety of the same culture? If same culture is unavailable, it is then whichever ruler has the highest piety? Because I have seen some weird PC 'appointments'.

AFAIK, the selection of the PC goes as follows

When there is a Crusade going on:
- The ruler with the highest piety

When there is no Crusade going on:
- The nearest relative, who must be a ruler of course, of the Pope.
- When there is no relative of the Pope then the ruler with the highest piety seems to become PC

Besides these general rules I also see all kind of weird PC-appointments, so there must be other, unknown, factors. :) So you might as well be correct that the culture of the ruler and the Pope might get into play.

A new PC will only be selected when:
- You save and reload
- The Pope dies
- The PC dies
