Bomber upgrade weirdness

I've recently gone back to playing HOI2 with the Doomsday and Armageddon addons at V1.2.

I've been playing Japan and recently upgraded to Level 3 Tactical Bombers. However my level 2 Tactical bombers refuse to upgrade to Level 3. On the production tab I need 30 odd IC in the upgrade slider. The bombers are sat in their bases with no mission but on the stats pages the obstinantly have "--" in the upgrade column and no matter how long I wait they never upgrade.

If I hover the mouse over the upgrade slider it tells me I have 5 divisions to be upgraded, it just dosn't do it. Spoils the game for me a bit somehow ...

Anyway, is this a one off bug, corruption in my datafiles, can I fix it by editing them ... *sigh*

In patch 1.2 the upgrade status on the statistics page is broken. Looking there will no longer tell you what the status of a unit's upgrade is. Not sure if this applies to all types of units or not. It probably will not be fixed by paradox, and it isn't something you can fix yourself.

However, all of you units should still upgrade - it is just the stat page that is not working right. So, here are some requisites for unit upgrade:
1. You have the techs researched.
2. You have the IC devoted to upgrade.
3. You do not have the "do not upgrade" button checked for the individual unit.
4. You have waited long enough to allow the unit to upgrade.
5. The aircraft were not traded for.

Other factors that affect how fast the units upgrade:
1. Your hawk/dove slider.
2. Your standing/drafted army slider.
3. Possibly your free market/Central planning slider (not sure about that).

If your upgrade slider, on the production tab, says that you still have IC you need to devote to upgrade, then fully fund it if possible and eventually those units should upgrade. You can prioritize those aircraft by checking the "do not upgrade" button for all other units.
