Playing 1.03c as Ottoman.

Suez canal has been built.

I built a dreadnought, and placed it in Zigazar (sp?), a province in Egypt which borders the canal and shows as having a port (small port symbol).

The ship places there OK, but it can't move!
I even tried selling the province, hoping the ship would go into reserve so I could replace it, but it just stayed there.

Is there a solution? If it is to amend the save game file, what is the best way to do this?

EDIT: Obviously stupidity, since I just put this post in the wrong area! - Moderator please put this out of its misery and into the correct part of the forum.

Had one of the Major (european) powers *BUILT* the Suez yet? (they have to own all of the provinces in question)

any Major power can build the Panama when the time comes...

Unless canal cord redifines province-to-province connection, you just found another map bug(there're 3 known).

My analisys of adjacent.tbl told me that Zigazag(1322) and Northern Red Sea(1377) is not linked. I'll do more alalysis and fix it after work.

If you can't wait, liberate your imprisoned fleet in this way:
1. Seek your fleet section from your save data(you had better rename it to ease the searh in advance).
2. Edit the province id(1322) at location=1322 or port=1322 line to any province's which has operational port.
If you can't make out what I mean, just wait for my next release of map bug fix mod, please.

Not relevant to the discussion at hand, perhaps, but I just wanted to point out that province ownership is irrelevant for canal building, at least in vanilla.

I thought that a Euro Great Power needed to own the 4 Suez provinces in order to be able to build the canal?

Nope. Here's the full list of triggers:

- Need to be a Great Power
- Need to be European
- Suez canal not built yet
- 1860 or later

In addition, it's a random event.

Thanks unknown for the bug fix.

Playing vanilla and yes someone else (not me) built the Suez canal, even though I owned all the provinces and was one of the Great Powers.

Done. This is indeed a bug. For the temporary solution, download my bug fix mod from here.

I hope paradox will fix these bugs in the next patch.
