I've recently come across a serious problem. While playing as Turkey I found that I was utterly unable to add any brigades from the force-pool, once completed, onto my units. My units didn't have any brigades already attached to them, and had the brigade attachment button greyed-out. I thought this was an anomaly, perhaps due to not having researched a crucial technology that allows brigade-attachments, but I'm now playing as Germany, and couldn't attach my escort-fighter brigades to any of my tactical or strategic bombers. I've tried clicking on the brigades in the force-pool(apart from trying again by using the briagde-add-on buttons on the unit description section), but it still doesn't work - I just get the lower half of the menu blank with just a cancel option available, and the "OK" button greyed-out - and when I click on a province or unit as instructed onscreen, the submenu just vanishes, and I'm back to square one.

Anyway, there is no way I can carry on playing this game without escort-fighter brigades protecting my air-force bombers, as they'd just get slaughtered by the UK. Can anyone please tell me what to do to fix this brigade-adding problem? Is there some tech unit that I haven't researched yet yet, which still needs completing, and if so which one? Or is it a matter of trying out a combination of keys such as the "Shift" or "control" keys on the keyboard? I've tried using the "Shift" button in various ways but othing happens.

Hi Crom. As I understand it, the escort fighter problem is a definite glitch. It's been recognised and will be addressed in the 0.3 release, but that's down the track a little way.

As far as being unable to attach any brigades at all, have you checked the supply status of your Turkish units? Units that have been given operational supply are unable to attach brigades - this is a vanilla provision and is unaffected by CORE.

Nevermind. After taking a fresh look at it I figured it out. Should've figured it out the first time but oh well.

Anyway just add the following line to the beginning of the mod-CORE2\db\units\divisions\strategic_bomber.txt & tactical_bomber.txt files

allowed_brigades = escort

Voila! Instant brigade attachment ability.

Correct, should be resolved in 0.30. I've mantified it for good measure. Thanx!

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I'll change the data right as soon as I get back. As for the issue of Turkish units, I'd clicked the "offensive" button to give them better supply capabilities, so that must be why I couldn't attach brigades then. After posting the original message, I found that my German troops could, after all, unlike the Turkish ones, have brigades attached, but this was pre-war so hadn't clicked that offensice button yet. Winder why doing so forbids brigade-attachments?

Any other nasty surprises still in 0.25 CORE? I don't mind playing a game with many unhistorical elements, which can be ironed out later on, but I really don't want to waste a vast amount of time and effort on this game playing up to c.1953, unless the basics have been dealt with properly.

Not that I know of... But while you're at it you might want to change the following line in the usa_1936.ai file as well:
683 # Hawaii into 663 # Pearl Harbor

It seems to be one of the main factors of the February slowdown. The credits for finding that one go to Dec...

I put the command "allowed_brigades=escort" into the startegic bomber, tactical bomber, naval bombers and close air support (CAS) files as recommended. At first everything went smoothly, and almost all of my various bombers got equipped with escort-fighter brigades. Unfortunately, the last one I'd put on the production line refused to be added to either of the two escort-less close-air support fighters I had left. The escort-fighters had been happily linked to the other close-air support fighters I'd produced, it was just the last lot that were a problem. To make sure, I deliberately include the lspecific command, not only at the beginning of each relevant file but also before each enw module description. Any suggestions? Could it be that the escort-fighter brigade produced was too advanced for the CAs aircraft(which could only be improved in 1941, without penalties? I doubt this is it, as I'd only updated the 1940 escort-fighter technology-improvement category AFTER I'd ordered the various escort-fighters.

Interesting game, by the way. Unlike all my previous games, the AI is rather weak. Instead of conquering the whole of China, as usual, Japan has been content to follow the historical path of just taking a segment of Northern China. The UK, which, in previous games, happily invaded the Axis-allied Spain and Portugal very frequently, has only lent troops to Turkey before I crushed it, as Germany, and that was about it, except for standard bombing raids into France.

I find it interesting that it's allowed to resurrect the Ottoman Empire after puppeting Turkey. Nice touch.My only gripe is that if, when attacking a country, you have an allied neighbouring country also involved, all provinces of the invaded country go under the control of that neighbouring country, even if almost all of the invading units come from a totally different country(such as Germany). In this game, I had to save and reload in order to liberate the Ottoman Empire as a puppet government of Greece, whereas it would have made much more sense if I'd been allowed to exchange taken provinces between the two countries before an annexation.
