Not certain if this one has been reported yet or if it´s a bug or feuture, but I have a save game as proof of it´s existance.
In the GC with France, I waited for the Dutch revolt to set the lowcountries aflame, and then declared war on Spain. When the war was concluded I saw one of my allies (Papalstates) besieging in cooperation with the Spaniards a rebel Zeeland. Then when the fortress surrendered it became controlled by the papalstates, While not at war with Spain.

Are you sure that you did not sign a seperate peace with Spain, because in such cause it is obvious that the Papal States did what they did.... They are still at War with Spain.... :)

this sounds very similar to something i mentioned previously in this thread:
http://www.europa-universalis.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=4185&perpage=15&pagenumber=1
never really found out why it happens, tho i suspect its related to a country quelling rebellion in a province owned by someone else
tho this shouldn't happen if they're at peace and they shouldn't gain control
i too kept savegames of both the spain controlling flandres and hessen controlling another netherlands province

No I was the leader of the alliance and so was Spain, after peace was signed and I saw this, I checked if the Papa was at war with Spain, and he was not.
