I can't get the music at all

I can't get the music at all. I know that you're supposed to directly connect the CD to your sound card in order to get the music, but I thought that the Winsock that came with the game was supposed to fix that.

I just downloaded winamp. What is this digital audio patch that I need?

It can be found among the plugins and is called CD Reader

It's all about sending the data digitally from the CD reader to the Audio card without first converting it to (electromagnetical interference vunerable) Analog signals.
This give better signal/noise ratio but costs CPU power (not a lot, but if you have a slow machine that is already struggling with EU it's not a good idea).

Havn't botherd to test if it works with the EU CD yet, but I see no reason why it wouldn't

I downloaded and installed the CD Reader. In order to get Winamp to work I've got to provide it with a file name to load into the playlist, but the music file names are not listed in the directory of the EU CD. How do I get Winamp with the CD Reader to play the music on the EU CD?

Hmm, checked the CD and yes, the music tracks are 'hidden' in another section of the CD, sorry.

Anyway, the musictracks are downloadable from the Paradox site as MP3's. If you want the music get them there instead.

I downloaded the music files, and they play with winamp. Now I need to know, is there anyway to get them to coordinate with the game, or do I just turn on the winamp to continually repeat the playlist then start the game?

I noticed someone asking about changing the sounds of the game. Would you guys be interested in starting a 'sounds depot' to go along with the scenario depot?
