Question about diplo annexing.. Do you need 190+ relations with them for the entire 10 year period, or just when you do the actual annexing?

BiB:

They can be, though, as long as you invite them into your alliance....
I'm with you, though; I think a vassal should almost automatically be in the same alliance as its liege (unless it really despises the alliance leader...)

Ciao!

Great info about vassals. I just vasslized two countries and I was wondering if I needed to keep them as allies (in case I would need other allies when the current alliance will end)

Concerning the "revolts in a peacefully annexed country doesn't make sense" : I fully disagree. You probably have negociated the annexion with the upper class (nobility, merchants, whatever) and it doesn't mean that the people are pleased by the new rulers (and even probably part of the upper class, the inheritors of the former ruler,etc... are upset too).

Also a "peaceful" annexion doesn't mean that the annexed country had much choice. For instance when France annexed Brittany, the idea was the following (from the king of France to the duchess of Britanny) : "either you marry me or the huge army just across the border will knock at your door" . I believe nobody in Britanny (especially the upper class which lost most of its power and influence...I'm not sure the peasanry really cared) was really satisfied by this "diplo" RM and annexion.

I did a test last night where I declared war on someone's vassal to see if the master would join the war but it didn't. I guess this is an AI problem and not really a problem with the way vassalization works. I kind of look at vassalization as another form of alliance because essentially the vassal is paying me half of their tax income to make me want to protect it. If my vassal gets annexed by an enemy I'll obviously lose a source of income so this gives me a good incentive to protect my vassal. Too bad the AI doesn't think this way too.
