Cannot Complete Loading

I need help here....I downloaded the new patch 1.3 and the icon on my screen changed (thats fine), but the game cannot past the loading process. It gets stuck when loading "global" and it stops. When I return from the desktop to the game, it says " ERROR: (Unknow Type in NavalDivision) 'convoyattack =14' Line=19 file=db\unit\divisions\battleship.txt" and when i click on any three option (skip, retry, stop) it just shuts the game down.

Any idea??

Was this DD or regular HOI2 you installed the patch on?

Definately sounds like a regular HOI version trying to use a Doomsday database. convoyattack is a doomsday feature.

what am i suppose to do?? i have tried reinstall, but when i update again from other sources (since i thought the patch i downloaded was bad), it still shows the same problem...

By reinstall, I assume here that you completely removed your previous installation from your hard drive. And then popped the hoi 2 CD into the CD-ROM drive, and let the installer do it's job.

I also assume here that you checked, immediately after installation, that your hoi 2 version works properly.

Now, if after this you only installed a patch and after that you get this error, then somehow you must have managed to install a Doomsday patch on top of your regular hoi 2.

If that is not the case, then I must have to ask you this: did you install a mod on top of your regular hoi 2?

What you assume is all correct. I did installed patch 1.1 and it worked fine. Then I skipped patch 1.2 straight to patch 1.3. When I reinstalled, I tried to get patch 1.1 or 1.2 because 1.1 worked fine and 1.2 might work, but it said I had a newer version and would not let me do so.

I have downloaded a demo doomsday for trying out, but it expired. I believe I deleted it.

This is the above actions I have done so far with HOI2....what can I do to fix this game?

Do NOT install any earlier patches, the only patch you want is 1.3a.
So remove DD from your system. Follow the uninstall instructions in the sticky thread, then fresh install from CD, does the game run like that?
if so install 1.3a, does the game still run?

Just to make absolutely sure, could you do me a favor?

Please check in your main hoi folder. There should be a db folder. In it, there should be a units folder, and in that folder you should find a divisions folder. Now, select that folder in the Windows Explorer.

Is there a file named escort_carrier.txt in that folder?

I did deleted everything before i installed again from the CD. This game ran without any patch. I could not download any other patches other then 1.3 because it said I already have a newer patch. After I installed the 1.3, the game would stop in the middle of the loading process.

Sounds like maybe you are trying to run the patch from the internet.
You must first download (Save a copy of the patch on your harddrive) then install the patch by running it from your harddrive.

yea actually i was running the patch from internet cuz i was too lazy to download the patch then delete it. I will give it a try.

I have tried what u suggested and it still didnt work (the same problem). Oh, and there was a weird message that kept showing up: "version 1.03 (or something like that) has been installed. Installation will exit". But when I pressed ok, it still continued the downloading process for patch 1.3a. Man...its tough to get a game going......

Well, this file is only part of the Doomsday version. Which brings me to the conclusion that you must have used the 1.1 doomsday patch to patch your regular hoi 2 installation.

If the 1.3 patch for hoi 2 is giving you troubles, try to obtain the 1.1 (or 1.2) patch for hoi 2 itself. Then at least you should not get the loading errors you were getting now.

But the best thing to do, of course, is to try to get a functioning 1.3b patch file.
