So I've had this issue since some time after necroids released. I'm not sure what exactly is causing it. When i pan the camera around in either the galaxy view or inside a system i get micro stuttering when i pan the camera around. I'm not sure what caused this to happen. It was actually working fine even when necroids came out. And then about a few weeks later when i came back to play I noticed a ton of micro stuttering when i pan the camera around. I'm just a bit frustrated because i've spent 13 real life hours trying to find a solution and i'm at a complete loss. I feel like i've tried literally everything to fix it to no avail. I'd love to list all the things i've tried but that would take an excessive amount of time to type out. But all the basics i can write, i've verified the game files through steam many many times, i've tried running the game as admin, i've changed file names based off outdated advice, i've ran almost all older versions of the game with the same issue happening in all the ones i've tried, I've updated my drivers multiple times, made sure windows is up to date, lowerd graphical settings and uninstalled all the dlc's and base game one by one to try and isolate any dlc. And then re installing everything one by one to try and find a difference and was inconclusive with the same issue happening even if it was just the base game running.

I can't find any current information on what the cause could be. Though i'd like to find out the problem. I sent a support ticket to paradox a long time ago when i first noticed the problem and was met with silence. I've asked if anyone on the steam forums had any ideas and got no responses. I really enjoyed stellaris and spent a lot of money on all the dlc over the years so its a tad frustrating and sad all at once that for whatever reason i can't play as the micro stuttering starts from the very beginning of a run and only gets worse even at a month in.

Here's a link to a video i made showcasing what i experience. I have another video on that channel as well with another example, though the one i'll link shows the more typical stuttering experience. Hoping the new 3.0.1 update will magically fix my issue but i highly doubt it will.

Also the first minute and a half or so i was trying to get the micro stutter going thats usually visible on the systems sun, which it was doing prior to recording but of course did it real bad once or twice here. It normally is just as bad or worse than the galaxy view stuttering is, and the stuttering's intensity varies from game to game and from save to load.

Do you have V-Sync turned on?
i've tried both with v-sync on and off. When i had v-sync on i had it set to "fast" in my nvidia control pannel. Either way i get the micro stutters when i pan the camera. There doesn't seem to be any difference between having it on or off. Also the new 3.0.1 update today didn't help the issue as i was hoping. Just kind of at a complete loss. But currently I have it on as if i have it turned off i get screen tearing in this game as well as some other games.

I'm already helping you with this in a ZenDesk ticket.

There was a Windows patch that caused this

Are you completely up to date in the Windows Update app?

I have the exact same problem and my pc is not the issue. I updated my pc with the patch but the game is very choppy

Yes Windows is up to date. I have this problems since long ago. After initial game release, the game ran very smooth for me, no stutter and stuff it was a pure joy.
It doesnt matter which galaxy size, there is always a stutter at the beginning of a new ingame day which looks and feels terrible. Space battles and overall ship movement feel like a diashow. Its like in OP´s video, but getting much worse the further the game progresses.

Has this always happened with this game for you? Or it was okay up to some point?

Does it affect the similar games CK2 and EU4 also?

DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/settings.txt and pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/logs/ folder, attach system.log , error.log .

I checked it on CK2 now and it also happens there, but i didnt noticed it all the time. The problem hurts mostly when you want to watch that big space battle you worked all that hours for. :)
As i said, after initial game release i was able to play it very smooth, without any stutter even in biggest galaxy sizes etc. Ofc there where late game slowdown but that was a different issue. Then i did not play it for a long time. When i came back the stutter was there, maybe with the new pop system? But if i check streams or videos of other players, they are able to play even big galaxy sized much smoother than i am so i dont think thats an issue that affects everyone...

Here are the files. My latest game is modded, if you need files from an unmodded game just tell me. Problem occurs on modded and unmodded games.

So many errors in that log! I can only assume they are mostly from mods. Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere, and user_empire_designs.txt from /Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/ if you have made any custom empires or races.
- "uninstall" in Steam-Stellaris
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Stellaris AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris folders
In particular you need to make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Stellaris or Documents Stellaris locations, before installing again.
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add stellaris.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.

The load or start a galaxy with no mods are all, and see if you still have th eproblem. If not please attach new coies of all those files, thanks.

Here you are!
Already did all of this, but to give you those clean files, i did it again.

1. Unsubbed all mods
2. Uninstall the game
3. deleted all those folders
4. reinstalled the game
5. verified game files
6. checked Windows defender, stellaris.exe is on the list

FYI i also never modded CK2 so i dont think its a mod issue.

I really hope you are able fix this problem. This stuff really prevents people who have this issue from enjoying the things you guys added to the game...

Well your log file is a lot better, so that's a good thing in its own right.

I see no other likely cause of this problem in those files. Does it happen in borderless and windowed display modes too? And does it only happen on speed 5, or lower speeds too?

Any OCing done on this hardware?

The same applies to your info, I'm afraid, no smoking gun in there. The same questions ...

And do you see this in HOI4 and CK2 also?

Also happens in borderless and windowed display. Every speed, stutters are bound to the daily ticks. faster speed = faster stutter. Slower speed = slower stutter.
CPU is slightly OC, but system runs well overall and in every other game. Temps are fine, too.

Can we test with no OCing implemented at all please?

And can you please run up Task Manager and go into Performance. When this is happening is there CPU, GPU, Memory, Disk and/or I/O usage that moves in time with the stutters/ticks?
