Hello!

I am currently trying to install the game, and have some problems.

First of all - I bought the German version of the game and I am running a Japanese Windows 98 ... which has not been a problem with any other game/application yet.

My CD does not seem to have an Autorun functionality - it does not Autorun and there is no file called Autorun on the CD. Should there be one?

So I try to install via Setup.exe which starts InstallShield and prompts some questions, which I leave as defaulted.

When the Wizard trys to install the first files, the following message pops up (I am translating from German here):

"Error while transferring data: -115
Folder: Program Files
File Group: ger
File: C Program Files Paradox Europa Universalis Scenarios Einfuehrungsszenario.eug"

So, as I understand it, the system has problems installing the introductory scenario ("Einfuehrungsszenario.eug").

One issue could be that this file name contains a special German character called Umlaut - an u with two dots above it. The Japanese Windows might not recognize it. On the other hand, in other German games I successfully installed, I saw the same characters; in Word, Excel etc. filenames anyway.

Is there a way to change the name of this file ("Einfuehrungsszenario.eug" - note that I have to use "ue" instead of the Umlaut; Jap keyboard doesnt have these characters ...) without having installed it yet?

Or does anybody have any idea how to "teach" the Japanese Windows German Umlaute (country settings doesnt work)?

I assume that the US version would not have this problem (if Umlaute is indeed the issue) - is there a way to change my German version to the US version without having to pay again?

Thanks - I appreciate your help!

Cheers!
