Can't install the IGC? Has anyone had this problem?

Hey guys I guess this is where I post this problem. I have read much of the advice on installing the IGC but nothing seems to work.
I have downloaded the latest version of Microsoft VM.
I have made totally sure that the IGC files were extracted to c:\program files\europa universalis.
I have tried to install in windows and dos.
I have read thoroughly the faq and readme.
What happens everytime is when I double click patch.exe, my screen goes black and stays black. I have to reboot every time.
I hope someone else has been able to solve this problem because I would really love to play the IGC.

Whoa, that sounds _bad_.

I've never heard of anyone with that problem before, but if your computer crashes I would guess something is seriously wrong with your system. Say what you will about Java apps, but they tend to die nicely.

No clue.

A workaround, though, would be for someone to send you an appropriate text.csv. Patch.exe converts text.csv to whatever language version you are running.

Have you tried igcconfig? It probably won't work either. It is useful, but not necessary. You can workaround it by editing files, or, again, having someone email a scenario file that has the options you want (or several scenario files with various options).

I had the exact same problem. Know let me see if i can explain how i fixed it. Ok so I made an EXE. file out of the IGC. Then I extracted it simply to Europa universalis, and it worked. It took me 2 weeks to figure this out I hope it works for you.
