I can't seem to be able to set a mods required version number so that it works for all current and future versions of game.
I tried what was mentioned in modding suggestions
"Use "1" or "1.0" to have the mod always be compatible for other versions."

But the launcher still complains that the mod is not compatible with current version.

We need to pester the Devs for that. It's annoying to have to update a mod when we hardly change anything to it.
Unlikely they will change it. when the system was originally applied to CK2 and EU4 we could use "1". However, people were being lazy and overused this feature leading to crashes and complains after patches. Frankly, the probability that your mod will be broken after a patch is very high and it only rises the bigger mod becomes.

Hum, I have a similiar problem.
I wanted the launcher to ignore the mod version the same way as you did, so I would be able to have my grapcs change in muliplayer games without having the others players have a "not same version" thingy when joining, but...
The launcher keep rewriting on the change made in the .mod.
Like, I put 1.2.0/1.2.x/1.x.x ,still, it gets back to the original state from the workshop (in my case 1.0.*)
Would be glad to know if there actually a solution to that.

Since Asimov already breaks a couple of graphical-only mods (even just minor ones like the NASA backgrounds), I wouldn't assume anything tbh. It's not going to be a massive hassle just updating the .mod fie and re-uploading.

My mod didn't break though.. it just replaces the pop status icons.. which ain't very invasive. And highly unlikely game mechanics surrounding it to change too drastically between major updates..

Mostly just annoying to have to re-upload it with no actual changes to mod... And very annoying i imagine to my subscribers who have to wait until i get off my lazy ass to upload an updated version, just to fix version numbering..

Well, they don't. They can acivate it and playy anyway, it just has the exclaimation mark.
