My friend and I cannot play Valknet, LAN or Direct IP. Even when we are able to see one another's games, we cannot join because the "IP address was not found." This happens even with both of our router DMZs on, which opens all ports.

Can anyone please help us? This is an issue in both DD and Victoria.

Google Hamachi and give it a shot. I have found that sometimes routers just interfere period - Hamachi will give you another IP you might be able to use to connect.

Tried it. When we try LAN games, we can often see one another on the list, but upon clicking the "join" button, the game freezes for about half a minute, then continues on as if nothing happened. No joining, no anything. =/

Don't do LAN, do internet games, and use the Hamachi IP. It should be at the top of the window when it's open.

That said, I had your problem as well before I moved my computer into the DMZ whenever I play HoI2. Not sure why that isn't fixing it for you.

I would make sure you have got the right network IPs set for dmz, Its a easy mistake when setting up the routers.
If your IP is 192.168.0.7 and you set DMZ to anything else it won't work at all.

trust me on this

None of those have ever worked! :(

ok trust me on this I thought the same things

assuming you are all xp these problems are usually firewall/security or port forwarding.

i trust you have kicked into touch the firewall stuff - sounds like it from the error message.

please identify which guide you used to port forward your router. for example i used the manual on mine - it didnt work used the guide and it worked fine

Is there no way to make LAN games work? My brother and I are trying to play using a null modem cable, but we have the same problem. We click to join the hosted game, it freezes for 30 seconds or so, then continues on like nothing happened.

I just recently baught a router and went through tech support for 30 minutes and still couldnt get it so that I could host. I decided to just bypass the router when I'm playing HOI and just go direct. I would reccomend that instead of making yourself nuts trying to congifure the port forwarding. Good luck!
